Mayday - Radio Silence - Gol 1907

Fresh off the factory floor, a sleek $25 million Legacy business jet takes-off on its maiden voyage from Southern Brazil to New York. An hour into the flight the plane is powering through the skies over the Amazon Rain Forest. Suddenly a violent jolt rocks the jet. Passengers look out the window and see that part of the plane’s wing has been sheared off. The crew desperately needs a place to land. They spot a remote Army base with a runway long enough for their plane. They come in fast, but manage to bring the plane safely to a stop. But just when they think their troubles are over, the situation gets stranger. The passengers and crew are detained and interrogated by police. Another plane, a Boeing 737 with 154 people on board has crashed nearby. Everyone on board was killed. Investigators make a horrifying discovery - the Legacy jet and the 737 collided in mid-air. How had two planes under the authority of Brazilian Air Traffic Control ended up on a collision course? The investigation would uncover a string of technological and human errors that would lead to criminal charges and an unprecedented crisis in Brazilian aviation.

Too many Brazilian nationalists think America used this as an attack on Brazil. This was NOT PERSONAL and NOT AN ATTACK on you. Something for Brazilian nationalists to consider: even if America did want to attack you, which would NEVER happen since America has no reason or motive to, there’s far more effective and practical methods of attack that could lead to THOUSANDS of casualties instead of only 100.

@@Guizambaldi The transponder being off was merely an accident as it was by the pilot's foot. However, ATC pointed the finger at Legacy BEFORE the investigation even started in hopes they wouldn't take any heat for what happened. Propaganda brought upon by the Brazilian government and radical Brazilian nationalism played a role in blaming the Legacy pilots as well. The US gained nothing from this. Too many people in the comment section view this as an attack on Brazil. It was NOT.

@@Guizambaldi Did you even read my comment? The transponder button was near the Legacy pilot's foot, and could have been turned off accidentally by the pilot moving his foot. The Legacy pilots were NOT corrupt and did not point a finger at anyone before the investigation started. They were arrested and detained without an explanation by the Brazilian government because ATC was corrupt and pointed their finger at the Legacy pilots before the investigation was even started. This was so ATC wouldn't get any heat for their mistake in the crash.

@@tariqu2050 Yea, the ATC I guess at that point didn't see it or just didn't care. Unless he got confused that the 737 and the Legacy jet were spread out from each other but flying at the same altitude.
