Maniac really is a Maniac. And sort of a massive troll and kind of a goober. He’s also a great lyricist and vocalist with crazy energy and stage presence. Seems like a nice enough dude, but I can’t exactly tell. Good on him for leaving and saving himself from the booze.

Maniac predates Dead, what or to whom would he be rising to the occasion? That's the stupidest question I ever heard.

It’s ridiculous Maniac had to receive that constant comparison

Maniac's writing and concepts stand alone as the best stuff Mayhem ever had lyrically, in my opinion. The stuff between Wolf's Lair Abyss and Chimera, with the magnum opus Grand Declaration Of War in between, was the highest point of the band. I miss Maniac a lot in the band.

@@livingbeing1113i don't know, dead was also a great lyricist and less pretentious
@livingbeing1113Күн бұрын
@@bernabefernandeztouceda7315 Disagree, Dead's lyrics were mostly edgy teenage dark stuff. Some cool writings, but nothing spectacular. Maniac's were far more interesting and cryptic to me.

I may be wrong but to me it seems Rune always had a chip on his shoulder about not being appreciated enough. He's always been stand-offish and slightly arrogant, he thinks very highly of himself, and with reason since at some point he was arguably the best writer in all of black metal, but like i said this attitude of his may come from the fact he was never given his dues. All the comparisons with Euronymous and the fact that some stubborn fans never gave Mayhem a chance after DMDS. For me Rune's time with Mayhem was the highest point of the band songwriting wise, their run from Wolf's Lair Abyss to Ordo Ad Chao was an amazing and unforgettable time. Blasphemer and Maniac were such a creative force. A shame Rune will apparently never perform with Mayhem again.

@bernabefernandeztouceda7315 Yes, i know that. It was still part of the Blasphemer's era, he wrote it.

@@livingbeing1113 esoteric Warfare is a masterpiece but people still don't realize it. Daemon is good too
@livingbeing1113Күн бұрын
@bernabefernandeztouceda7315 Yes, Esoteric Warfare is fantastic. Teloch's baby. I much prefer that style over the old school approach for Daemon. Mayhem should keep innovating like they always did, and i get that Daemon was inspired by playing DMDS live, but like i said i much prefer when they experiment with prog and avant-garde.
@bernabefernandeztouceda7315Күн бұрын
@livingbeing1113 I still don't get why daemon is considered as DMDS part two, though. Yeah, the vibes, the aesthetics maybe... But the song structures are a completely different story. To me it have more continuity in the context of their discog than some kind of revival shit. Very creative stuff in the vein of Esoteric but of course more "trad" bm than the industrial, avant-gard... I don't know, It seems like the daemon hate is more gatekeeping than anything else
