Goddamn this sounds great. The rythm guitarist's guitar tone sounds just like on De Mysteriis. In my opinion Mayhem now sounds better live than they ever have.

Anthropophagus I completely agree. I saw them about a month ago in Columbus Ohio, and was absolutely blown away on how well they performed. Even better than this performance. The atmosphere was the best I’ve ever experienced at a show. It may seem somewhat cheesy here but in person it’s truly bone chilling.

That settles it: Nirvana was a Buddhist black metal band. Most would say thrash, but I'm saying Buddhist black metal. Every time I listen to Hellhammer, Venom, and Mayhem in the 80's, I hear Nirvana. Thank you Mayhem for one of the best live shows on youtube!

Mayhem will be playing live here in Costa Rica on May 15th; and i've been wondering if it would be worth it to pay and see them. Don't get me wrong i love Mayhem!!! but it seems that in the last 13 years or so they haven't been playing that good live. I saw them back in December of 2013 and trust me when i tell you that 95% of what i've heard was Necrobutcher on Bass......... no joke i really mean it. It was a 3 day festival on the countryside/on a mountain; with 20 other Bands, all of the other bands sound amazing, Mayhem was the only one that sounded horrible. So for all the Metalheads who have been in their concerts in the last 10 years hearing them...... i have a question; would it be worth it to pay and hear them live ?????

I had a similar experience the first time I saw them in 2009-they just seemed like they weren’t completely there. But I saw them in 2017 and 2018 and they were fantastic both times. IIRC 2013 was before they hired Teloch and Ghul and had a bit of a revolving door of guitarists, and the band’s management wasn’t what it is now. I’d give them another chance-I mean, does this look like a bad concert to you?

It was recorded during their "De mysteriis dom Sathanas" tour which I think was a perfectly executed idea. The line up matches the same order the songs are displayed on the album. People always want to listen to the classic stuff anyway. Absolutely love it.
