Good tips. I’m not sure about breaking rules, but a hard fast rule for me lately is to try and clean my space. So next time I want to craft, I don’t have to dig out first!

Yep, same here. One of my pets knocked over a glass of water onto a newly completed mini album for my son. He saw me making the album and asked me if I would gift it to him. The water ruined the album and the many, many hours I had spent on the album were wasted. It took me three years to work up the gumption to re-make the album. So, never, ever, ever will have a liquid anywhere near my projects.

After stamping with inks, I always go wash my hands even if I don't see any ink on me. Because if I touch card or project right after, I will leave smudges or fingerprints. After I die cut, I put the dies onto a magnetic sheet. Don't put them down anywhere but on that sheet. This stopped the dies getting lost or tossed out with paper scraps.

I realized that cardstock cutting was a pain, but didn't realize that there was a reason for it. I find I set my cardstock to the bottom, then pull down with my rotary blade. much cleaner cuts. The one rule I break is to put things away AFTER I've done a project. I get so mentally tired, that I am apt to leave it out for a few hours or overnight, which is bad. I have accidentally left the top off of an ink pad overnight! Thankfully, I had a refill to reink the pad.

MamaDisney Never underestimate the power of handmade. I work in a dialysis clinic. Our patients are a clientele, same days , hours etc. The staff knew our facility would be shutting down so on out last official Christmas/ holiday season we used plain inside thank you cards and I brought (as the only crafter) my stash of goodies so every patient got a handmade card. We just added stickers and sentiments to card stock we cut to cover the print on thank you’d (lol) waste not want not It has been my experience that I wouldn’t be making something for someone who wouldn’t appreciate it in the first place. We as crafters expect to much of ourselves . Just make it. Trust me, the recipient will love it . Wishing you great crafting , Kandy Staff really jumped in . Even the Inexperienced ones. They were so excited to see it happen and each person felt extra special. The one that was upside down was the best reaction because the patient said “Just like me, different.”

I have tried various rules and I find sometimes that my creativity gets stifled if I do. One thing I will not do is craft with cheap paper. In the past I have purchased tablets of thin scrapbook paper, not cardstock. I have so much of it that I have given some of it away to Good Will. It does not score well and sometimes even though scored it does not fold without peeling. I tried using it for origami or paper folding techniques and that does not work. I use it strictly for matting.

I would love a video explaining why wonky cuts happen. No matter how hard I try the cuts aren't perfect. Is it me or the trimmer?

I have found that if I slide my paper on the cutter until it just covers the measurement it’s near perfect. If it is a wider measurement mark, I slide to the middle of the mark.

Hi Maymay: Great video. My "Break the rule" is I tend to use way to much glue. I scrapbook a lot and I think that the whole page needs the glue. I know the paper will stay with less glue. Thank you for sharing.
