I will see her post on Twitter, and if you happen to be a political opponent of hers, she will miss quote you, distort what you actually said, and will push lies against you. Do I think mayor? Adams was so disrespectful to her. Turning your back on someone is THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL THING a person can do; and this was a Black man's behavior toward a Black woman. Why couldn't he just say, "You're right. We have more work to do, but I'd like to highlight what I have done so far. Additionally, I will take your input under consideration."

I'm so glad she called out his contradiction on subway crime. One minute there's no subway crime and the subways are safe, The next minute we need armed soldiers patrolling the subways. Like, we're in a POLICE STATE. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!

@Jmi391 I speak for myself. I feel safer. In Chicago, white people I talk to have completely abandoned public transportation because there's too much going on. If police that yall claim are doing nothing make you nervous. Maybe reevaluate your life. The only time i ever felt anxious around police was when i was doing dirt
@Jmi391
@Jmi391 2 ай бұрын
@@Chi-cd3ke You’re not thinking critically. No one is nervous of police themselves no one said that but the fact that your brain has went there shows me a lot about u and how u think. The police presence is what makes people nervous because the police being there usually means that something went down or something is wrong especially if they are walking around armed. People walking around taking defensive or offensive measures doesn’t tend to make people feel safe it actually makes them feel that danger is near and that’s what she is talking about and that’s what the surveyed people in New York have stated as well. Speaking for yourself is speaking for yourself you are one person and we are talking about a city full of people that have spoken about the police presence in the subway making them feel unsafe and this has been documented as she stated in the video. It has nothing to do with being guilty and wanting to duck police because of “doing dirt” that is so stupid and such a simple way of looking at things.

THIS IS WHY VOTING LOCALLY IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT IN EVERY SINGLE STATE 🎯
@otherperson
@otherperson 2 ай бұрын
We need actual person to person democracy within our communities. We need ordinary people to have the real ability to decide on the civil and economic direction of our society. I don't think we need local elections. What we need is to abolish the system that allows millionaires and career politicians to run our lives, and to put in place an actually democratic system.

@otherperson
@otherperson 2 ай бұрын
@@SalamHerbs-db5nt this made no sense lol. If the people have actual control of their lives, they would not ask for free stuff because there would be no one to ask. They would produce their basic needs themselves. There would be no state, because there would be no institution by which some social class has control over another. Majority rule can be addressed in numerous ways (giving minority groups veto power over decisions that directly affect them, cosensus or consent based democracy, and so on). The state is the problem. But the solution to the alienation of the state is real communal decision making.

@otherperson Mordern democracy is a scam. A nefarious and diabolical system to keep people enslaved. The slaves have no control over their lives, and the ruling class doesn't care what the slaves want. They'll continue to go into a little closet with a shower curtain every few years to check some boxes on an isreali voting machine, hoping that maybe, just maybe, things will change this time. Back and forth we go.

The Mayor is not the Lord and Savior of NYC… if I wake up and decide to commit a violent crime ( which happens often in NYC) how exactly is the mayor responsible for these acts ? There is a culture problem in our country the mayor can’t fix that within 2 years. Our people need to look within and stop relying and blaming and elected individuals for people who have full control over their lives. I don’t agree with all his talking points but cmon… Blaming mayors or politicians for an increase in crimes isn’t an educated approach..

@@rachelspence2339 glad we can have a casual dialogue, i appreciate you reciprocating the sentiment! i definitely don't deny that every individual has the capacity to improve themselves, to improve their lives, and their community; i just think that there are so many systemic issues that we really need to come together to deal with too. personally, i think the reason why things seemingly get worse no matter who's in office is because, to a certain extent, it doesn't matter; people have no tools to hold them accountable. there's nothing letting us really affect the way anything is handled, only the people who handle it; unions are probably our most powerful tool to pressure government into doing anything, and nyc has a history of union busting ranging all the way back to the late 1800s in brooklyn. when you add to that the nature of how wealthy people continue to accumulate more and more money, giving them more political sway, giving them more opportunities to further exploit workers to make even MORE money, and it becomes very clear why everything seems to continuously get worse overall. this may be optimistic or naive, but i genuinely think most crime is not born from misguided people but the terrible conditions they have to endure, poverty drives people to steal, a lack of mental health resources drive people to do all sorts of things, and budget cuts reducing the aid we can offer whomever may be in need, in favour of lining some police chief's pockets, is nothing short of tragic.

Came here after the NYT interview w Charlemagne. Great interview. I’m in Bedstuy 79th precinct and have seen community members asking for more police presence around parks and outside of subways. They also demand that the captains be held accountable for the cops who step out of line. I can understand why folks see it as looking more dangerous so I guess it’s how you perceive it too. Just my pov. Again great interview and the world would def be a better place if higher ups were like Olayemi.

I don't agree with all of Olay's positions but I do way more than Candace and Candace would be severely overmatched simply on a debater to debater level. She was fed typical talking points by conservative think tanks without any deep knowledge of those points while Olay literally has a doctorate in and professional experience in debating (as a lawyer). (I'd love to see it🤣) Her versus Ben Shapiro would be even better. She can match his rhetorical clip
