OOH! XTC! One of my faves! Such fun. Definitely check out more of them. They're kinda stylistically all over the place. Like the Beatles, in a way.

Magical Lyrics from 1989, and one of the best lines ever written; "If depth of feeling is a currency, then I'm the man who grew the money tree."

Thanks for the reaction. XTC is a top-notch band. They have covered every subject under the Sun. Name a subject they’ve hit it in a song. Andy Partridge (who wrote this) is a brilliant guy who loves looking at things from different ways. Religion, War, Sex, Relationships, Racism, Sexism, and even Love are covered in new and creative ways.

XTC put out a few albums by the band name Dukes of Stratosphere. 25 O'clock is the first album and also the first song of that album. Well worth a reaction video.

Andy Partridge is claiming not to be a smart guy but He really is a smart guy and he really can write a hit song.

the english are VERY self deprecating. xtc didn't break in the usa because they're so damn english in every way and americans don't really relate to that vibe. the songwriter - andy partridge - is a genius. slagging yourself off is just the english way man. this song is just tongue in cheek. i think the message if anything is that practical compatibility is overrated - you don't have to be the same to be in love. same as the film 'the lobster'.
