great job! On the differentials its always good to open the fill plug before opening the drain plug.. new model has nylon seals on the fill plug, hopefully that will seize less..

@@JohnnyTheCache yes, you are right, I have got that comment a lot haha, normally I do remove the drain beforehand, but I was a bit too excited this time and I didn’t do it that way. Hopefully the new ones are easier to remove and to not worry about this issue. Thanks a lot for your comment! 🤘🏽

Very nice video. Very clear and well presented. I would just add to make sure you can undo the filler plugs before removing the drain plugs and draining.

Always crank the filling plug loose first, then the drain plug. ofher than that, very good one.

I see no o-ring on the transmission and transfercase when you did this. i searched for them in the part list, but cannot find them. how does the plug seal?
@ElLocoRodil
@ElLocoRodil 7 ай бұрын
As far as I know they don’t have an o-ring. The manual tells you to use threebond sealer, but I did not use it and it has no leaked so far.

Great video, but it was missing a section on replacing brake fluid and oil. Well done.

great video. what kind of coolant fluid do you reccomend?
@ElLocoRodil
@ElLocoRodil 5 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot for your comment! In terms of coolant, I would check what type coolant my car needs, as it varies depending on manufacturer and in some cases year of the vehicle or type of engine. I don’t remember which one I used for the Jimny, but I am sure it would be easy to find it online.

I just finished my oil change on the transmission and transfercase. my transfercase took 1,1liter approximately and the transmission also took more than 1.6 liter. it was also much harder to reach the filler plug on the transmission (much less space). anyway i filled it up till it started it started dripping from the fill hole. the previous owner must have done some swaps I assume;-) curiously only 0,8l came out of the transfer case. i still need to make a small test drive, but i hope this addresses a faint whining noise. thanks for your great video!

Thanks so much for your comment! Hopefully it drives better now, let me know how it go. Maybe a different transmission on your one, I am not sure if they did different gearboxes on these ones.

@@ElLocoRodil Did some more digging. My gearbox works with buttons to switch between modes, so it is the R7ME gearbox. it seems you have the R72 gearbox, which is a more reliable gearbox according to bigjimny wiki.

when draining the diff, never pull the drain first, start with the fill plug just incase you cant get it open easily you wont end up with a diff that has no oil in it. Same is true for gearboxes and the transfer case. it also helps to drain the diff faster also don't use any gearbox oil that says GL4, GL5. in what i have researched both are not compatible with each other so the oil has to meet one standard or the other, and GL5 will ruin your gearbox it attacks the synchronizers. What i noticed that oil manufactures have done is say GL5 but meets GL4 for non synchro manual gearboxes which has no brass elements in it so it doesnt even matter what GL grade you use other from that top quality video

It is a good idea to remove the plugs in the order you stated, I worked on them before and I was confident I would get the plugs out one way or another. But you are right, it makes it easier. In terms of the gearbox oil, I based everything on the Suzuki Jimny workshop manual, as I wanted to be sure I used the right one. To be honest, I think I mentioned it in the video, I think it need a new clutch and throwout bearing haha But thank you for the info, I will keep that in mind for the other cars too.

@@ElLocoRodil that work shop manual is basically my bible, I have a green Jimny same as yours but a bit older with the g13bb engine and a white one thats 2007, i been searching like hell to find the correct specification of oil, you used the correct grade for sure 75W but the specification is not because there is a lot of marketing involved with gear oil these days
@ElLocoRodil
@ElLocoRodil 10 ай бұрын
@@cryoine7194 I agree, nowadays everyone is making oil, and it is hard to know which one is exactly the correct one. Every time I buy a car I try to find the workshop manual 😂 it saves me time and helps me to learn properly about the do’s and don’ts.
