I recently came across your production. I have to say that it was quite refreshing to see a school take on such a challenge as this production, when every other school seems to be performing one of those Disney cookie cutter productions. I have been involved in musical theater since 1975, and always enjoy watching various companies & their accomplishments. With Broadway reviving these great old shows, it's like bringing new life to some of the greatest songs written for stage & screen. The orchestra was wonderful, voices were amazing & the dancing was very professional. I tip my hat to all that put so much heart & life back into one of Broadways legendary classics. Well done, and BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!

When we did this show my senior year, the costumes for the ballgowns in Dames were bought online from a Chinese company, and came in 3x the size the measurements said. I’ll never forget all of the dance ensemble trying them on and cracking up during rehearsals because they had to add in that costumes weren’t finished and make it look ridiculous as each entrance had to include them fixing their dresses and making faces

My college did this show in 2016. My program is all about the tech for live entertainment so naturally I was focused on the tech of this performance. This is really good, this is extremely impressive for a high school. I wish I could have gone here.

Start with community theater. Get as much experience as you can. Go to as many dress rehearsal performances for shows in your area as you can. They are usually a fraction of the cost as regular shows. Always remember PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT! Best of luck!

I thought San Francisco public schools banned "specialty" high schools (except for its elite academic high school, which the school board tried but failed to gut .) Am glad they still seem to have an arts high school. It's alright.
