I really appreciate this video. My Neptune, which I purchased around 2000 was a key member of my large family 😂 It only recently started squeaking, but having had it open previously I knew this was a very repairable dryer. Your video makes this a snap with a very clear presentation and great filming. Thank you again.

Thanks for the feedback, glad my video helped. It’s surprising how much lint gets built up in these appliances, scary when you know flammable lint is! Thanks for watching.

Much appreciated. I would not have tackled this without your excellent video. I made one significant change. I attached and tensioned the belt before putting the first front piece on. I felt this gave me better access to the back of the motor and tensioner. Not sure if this helped or not. Also, I note is that in addition to using a vacuum to remove all the lint and dirt from the mechanical area, you stated you blew it out. So, I grabbed my yard blower and turned it on the area and promptly created a lint storm. Had to get a mask so I didn't suffocate. One last thing, I wiped off all the blood before putting the final front pieces back on - I'm sure my wife would appreciate that. Thanks again!

Good vid - exactly the same steps required to install the full maintenance kit on my 1999 Maytag Neptune MDG4000AWW. While I was in there I washed/cleaned the squirrel cage fan and its housing so it should move air much more efficiently now. The dryer is virtually silent now.

Thank s for making this video I have the exactly drier. My parents had this drier for a long time and was a hand me down and this year it’s super loud and just sounds horrible and I figured it was the wheels. I’ll head to my local appliance store and get these parts thank you again!

Great, just pay attention on how the drum wheels spin and the amount of washers you use. You want to make sure the wheels spin freely.

Helpful video, thanks. Folks, when you take your dryer apart, pay special attention to the blower seal (gasket where the front of the dryer meets the blower fan). Mine was stretched out beyond re-installation. The replacement part for my Maytag MDE4000AYW is no longer available anywhare. I lucked into a resale of one on ebay, but if I hadn't found a suitable replacement, replacing the drum rollers/axles, drum belt, and felt seal would have been too much time and money down the drain. Be forewarned and check your blower seal to find out if it is still in good shape before you open up those replacement parts.

Thanks for the great video, I followed your instructions, ordered the parts kit and fixed the noisy Maytag Neptune Dryer! As suggested I hand spun the dryer drum before final assembly and heard metal clanking sounds. I always thought the noise was from buttons or zippers in the dryer, but it turns out I had some coins trapped under the paddle things in the drum! I removed them and wow what a difference. Thanks again for the great video. Rob

Very helpful. Those felt seals are supposed to overlap in the direction of spin. If this operates clockwise (I think?)the one in the back is overlapping from the wrong direction unless my eyes deceive. I got to this video because I’m doing the same maintenance on an older Maytag Neptune and the felt seal had totally come undone and was bunched up, maybe due to a manufacturing defect with the wrong overlap. Personally I’m surprised the overlap makes a difference. (Your dryer is showroom clean!!)
@exoticwoodpen7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the information, I didn’t realize the overlap was incorrect. Thank you for commenting and watching my video. My first time doing this to a dryer.

Like I said who knows how important it is. Makes some logical sense and I only learned it from one of the parts house’s vids.

No, it's just the reverse of taking it off, thing of it as a 10 speed bike chain gear tensioner.

What is the timestamp in the video when you put the belt back on the tentioner? I swear you go from putting the drum in to talking about the direction the drum goes to the seal on the door and you put that all together and not show the belt being hooked on before the front is all put together. You can't put the front on until you hook the belt up. Check out the video. You go from hanging the belt on the drum to putting the front back on
@exoticwoodpen11 күн бұрын
18:35 you can see the belt tensioner connected. It is just the opposite of how I released the tension in the video at 4:47 in the video. Think of a 10 speed gearing real wheel how the chain goes around the sprocket and that is how the tensioner works. Hope that helps, thanks for watching.
