Is that not the idea of what being a mad scientist is, knowing the reality of things others refuse to accept. When striving for becoming greater then you already are when desiring more the idea of obtaining perfect becomes pointless because there is nothing better. The desire is gone and ambition is gone, nothing left to be except what you already are for eternity.

The basic concept is that perfection is the same as stagnation. It's why a "perfect Utopia" would be an absolute nightmare to live in. So many people strived for a perfect world and in the process surpassed eachother...thus we have evolution. The moment we have achieved this pefection we cannot evolve anymore and reach a dead end. This was without a doubt one of my favorite all time speeches.
@dawidpotega8823 жыл бұрын
not to mention we could never achieve utopia. It's hard to please 1 person like that, then what about 8 billion in all of history. The only utopia we can ever get is if we manage to create a virtual reality where can craft whatever we want. Become perfects gods yet still unhappy. Perfection is a philosophical term for chasing a goal we will never reach. but true perfection is like god, we would never understand it. Maybe from god or whoever created all of it our world is perfect because... it's so imperfect. So full of everything. Countless possibilities if the multiverse exists and they all span for eternity with infinite space. and then we can add technology that will add another layer of dimensions created in virtual reality.
@420survivorstudios43 жыл бұрын
we strive to achieve a concept into reality but in reality we then realize that it is only perfect in our fantasy its so interesting how we tried so hard to cast that thought away thinking that we can achieve perfection but only the few know that it cant never be done so being a mad lad is breaking the system but the system was never broken it was only change in the way we could not understand it

Perfection is also unobtainable, though again it’s also based on philosophy. Perfection requires absolutes, and since life is imperfect and requires evolution to adapt, perfection is automatically impossible to achieve. However the pursuit of perfection is a very real thing, but one must understand that it will never be achieved. In evolution, why can’t we have the perfect evolution, intelligence, strength, agility etc, because that’s not obtainable, that would also require us to consume gigantic amounts of resources to maintain said form. So our bodies adapt and evolve for the best case in our particular scenario. He is right when he said to be perfect is to be nothing, because nothing is perfect as it is, nothing. No desire, there isn’t even anything there to work with and to modify, there is no change to have to obtain that nothing, which is perfect. So to be perfect is to have nothing, but to continue life and our desires we must have something and by which we will always be imperfect.

@HaakonTheRayquaza3 жыл бұрын
I agree with both of you (Zen and Mordred), there's nothing wrong with having dreams that you want to achieve, but you also have to accept the rules of reality, some people choose to ignore reality and just pursue their dreams, some choose reality over dreams and some choose to accept both and go for their dreams despite all downsides, but if you truly want to achieve what you want you must accept both, Mayuri for example said that he hates perfection, and that's because perfection means that there's a limit to the world when Mayuri doesn't want there to be a limit so that way he'll never have to stop doing what he likes, Einstein himself once said: "Imagination is more important than knowledge" and that's because knowledge is limited but imagination is how people find new things to explore beyond the limits of our world (TLDR: the world has rules but don't let that stop you from chasing your dreams, also Bleach > Naruto)

This dude is the epitome of what it means to be a mad scientist, everything he said in the speech was the absolute truth. Perfection really is the enemy of progression and evolution. If something is perfect, then there's nothing else to do. As such, those who are perfect become stagnant and won't be able to continue to drive further. My favorite part about the speech is that Mayuri is not saying people shouldn't continue to strive to be better, but rather he is saying that people shouldn't strive become perfect because then they would have no reason to continue moving forward or make any type of progression. This scene made Mayuri my favorite character. When he's first introduced, you start off thinking he must have absolutely no moral compass with all the horrors he's committed. But the truth is he does have principles. The thing which anchors him, his whole purpose for living, is the endless of pursuit of knowledge and progress. It might logically conclude that there's some endpoint to that, some point by which there's nothing left to improve nor discover. But not only does Mayuri acknowledge this is not possible, he doesn't want it to be possible either. That point is the heat death of all wonder, innovation, and creativity. And crossing that threshold, much less pretending to have crossed it, is something he does consider to be truly evil. Such a fascinating character, even if you don't condone his actions you can at least understand where he's coming from. Whether it be religion, ideology, or lifestyle, we all cling to some kind of ideal. We envision a perfection of ourselves, or this world, or a world beyond it and hope it will grant us salvation from our imperfect conditions. And while that has become the motivation for many good things (art, science, philosophy, etc.) people like Mayuri dare to question whether the ideal itself is truly worth achieving (if it were possible to do so). Is eternally stagnating in the epilogue of all progress with nothing left to strive for not a hell in its own right? You can allow such ideals to ground you, to give you a framework for what you want to change. Never stop your endeavor to *_perfecting_* something. But don't delude yourself with it. We live in a constantly changing world and thus our very conceptions of "perfection" change with it. And that's a good thing! After all the only true perfection is death, because only the dead never need to change.

Truly agree with him perfection is just something that would be kind of dumb there's nothing to gain after that and I like to gain and to evolve.
@bgill66233 жыл бұрын
This perfectly represents the anti spirals in gurran Lagann. The anti spirals believed that the power of the spiral(the power to evolve) would lead to nothing but destruction of the universe and because of this they stagnated themselves in order to become perfect. No individuality, no hopes and dreams, and no purpose other than to prevent others from growing past them. In the end being perfect is why they lost. Those who have nothing to strive for will achieve nothing in return.

No it didn't "perfectly" represent the anti spirals in gurran Lagann, that'd be against the speech. You should say "this speech is a 9.99/10 representation of the anti spirals in gurran lagann." Gosh you guys missed mayori's whole point of nothing is perfect!?

That's called Stagnation. You either adapt, or die. So a perfect world, Perfection that doesn't continue to progress, then it too will die.

@aarondelgado70363 жыл бұрын
Mayuri and Szayelaporro are both SICKENINGLY Evil, they're just different flavors of it; Szayel thinks he's already perfect and continues his evil experiments for fun. While Mayuri commits many of HIS sins in the name of scientific progress, and astoundingly enough, manages to produce tangible results. Mayuri manages to be more DANGEROUS simply because he combines Szayel's level of sadism with a genuine desire to scientifically understand the soul, with said desire being UNENDING because of the many possibilities that every plane of existence has to offer. That, and he's on the side of the "Good Guys".

Agreed. Well, kind of. I used to hate this man’s guts for how much of a scumbag I found out he was in the Soul Society arc. But when he arrived to “help” Uryu and Renji, he was still the same horrible person, but’s it’s so reassuring to see proof that he’s truly on the side of the good guys. I still hate him for the same reasons, but I guess I just like having him around for me to hate now, unlike before where I really wanted him gone (even though I knew he wouldn’t die. I recognized him in the TYBW trailer).

Mayuri has a special place in my heart because of this quote right here. It serves as a reminder for me to always strive to move forward and become better, but be realistic and logical about it. Perfection is impossible because we HAVE to grow as humans or we stop becoming who we really are. Never forget what you’ve been through and who you love. And always strive to wake up and do better than the day before. But be humble and understand that you WILL fail occasionally. But that’s the joy of it for when we succeed DESPITE our failures. Fuck this guy just gets it man I tell ya hwhat
@virtuousphi2 жыл бұрын
I think the reason Mary-Sues are so hated is because you're trying to create a perfect character. Perfection is the same as stagnation and that is something, we as humans, hate with a passion. That is why we strive to improve and discover new things because without the chase and excitement of discovery, we would be lost.
