The reason Pernida eats Nemu is because it learned how to do so through Mayuri's Bankai. During the fight, Pernida learned several things: how to talk because of Zaraki, gained Zaraki’s physicality, developed the skin-peeling ability due to Mayuri's Bankai, and even learned how to eat without teeth. Essentially, whatever Pernida touches, it learns and copies that behavior. Also pernida didn't randomly decide to consume Nemu even though mayuri was right there. I think it was being instinctively cautious. Keep in mind pernida has bested mayuri so far and even outwit him at times. Nemu just popped out of nowhere and obliterated it twice. She was the greater threat. Pernida likely wanted to copy the superhuman qualities of nemu and eliminate the threat of her completely similar to how Mayuri had Jizu eat it. Plus Pernida wanted to evolve further so it chose the Jizu method (which it recently learned) of eating Nemu’s scraps to reach that next evolutionary stage.

The manga panels shows that he can still regenerate but he will just keep exploding in an endless loop until there’s nothing left which is a more diabolical death imo. I’ve seen quite a few reactors be like “can’t he just regenerate from that?” While the anime is more streamlined, I think it leaves out a detail that makes the death more clear as to why Pernida can’t come back from that. Not a huge deal, episode was still amazing 10/10.

Rob isn't 100% in the wrong here. As far as perspective goes, the TYBW arc does shift focus to Uryu more than they do Kenpachi. That much is true. I think Rob was just getting his words mixed up. I don't think he was trying to say that this season is all about Uryu but that all we have known about quincies up to this point stems from what we know about Uryu (And his father) and what we have seen them do. It wasn't until the beginning of the TYBW that we were introduced to the Sternritter and that fact that Ichigo's mom is quincy. Also a fact that Rob pointed out is that Uryu does embody more of a "Sasuke" Archetype and role here because of his alignment with Yhwach. As far as the story goes Uryu plays a much more important role than Kenpachi. That is not to say its all about him specifically but even the show is eluding to the Ichigo/Uryu Parallel and Emphasizes his importance as a character.

Kubo 🤝 Pierrot Films = Bleach Cinema Greatness 🙌 Just imagine trying to birth a child up to 6 times just for it to be alive for up to 2 years and only after the 7th try you’re able birth a healthy growing child, that definitely partially fueled & contributed to Mayuri’s madness as further reasons are currently yet unknown for now. Nemu=Dream and is literally Mayuri’s artificial child in the same way that Junta and Ururu as the 2 kids always with Kisuke, except much more capable. She’s the lucky number 7 and to him she was ‘perfect’ just for being way beyond the last and rest of them instead of just another experiment, which is why he stopped attaching a number to her name, and ironically thanks to stage 100 cancer as ‘rapid cell division’ was the only thing allowing Nemu to grow is what also essentially Mayuri gave to Pernida in killing him. Pure scientifically poetic madness. Her last attack Gikon Jūrinjū (Heavy Artificial Soul Cannon) and the OST that plays during her last scene is ‘Here to stay - you’re here to stay’ by Hazel Fernandez who also sings Ichigo’s ionically legendary number one theme.

I get what Rob is meaning and I think he has a point for vouching for Uryu, because while Kenpachi's potential has always been teased all throughout the series, the TYBW arc has been a special one for Uryu story-wise and the implications this would have, and especially with all the power boosts it seems he's gotten and his position in all that in relation to Yhwach and the implications with that, and what his shrift is supposed to be; so it should at least be difficult to count him out with anything at this point in time... he maybe just lacks the experience with his power... Quincy abilities seem to be really OP and hax even if the particular quincy himself isn't as strong as the soul reaper he's up against. However I also gotta consider everything with Kenpachi and why he's a special threat, and everything that's built up with him, and really consider what that's supposed to mean (because I think it could be easy to get lost in the weeds with how it's like everyone is showing off their power or getting crazy power boosts). I'm thinking Kenpachi would win, but idk the extent of Uryu's ability but I think he's supposed to be really broken as well, so I really can't count him out easily with anything, as far as I see it.

I don't agree actually, pernida can't be killed by conventional means while uryu can. Gerard's sword has a similar ability to antithesis, but once kenny went bankai it became no problem at all.. the only reason Kenny couldn't take Gerard down was bc, again, Gerard can't be killed by conventional means due to the miracle (I know destroying the cross kills him but that wasn't revealed until years after the manga was done)

Nah he rlly doesnt. In shikai, Kenpachi can just one shot Uryu before Uryu can do anything with the antithesis. He cant switch anything once he is dead. Thats speaking if Kenpachi actually tried and didnt play around. And even if Uryu can reverse the wounds he got from Kenpachi (thats if he wouldnt die in 1 shot) Kenpachi is durable enough to withstand his iwn shikai attacks just like when Gerard used Hoffnungs ability to turn back the damage Kenpachi made with his shikai, onto Knepachi. And all that was before bankai.

If Gerard was still holding Hoffnung and Bankai Kenpachi cut it, Kenny would have died. Also Uryu can be killed but he's not just going to stand there tho

@@MarioMR60 If Uryu could keep up with Bankai Senjumaru speed to the point where she had to overwhelm him with numbers to capture him, I don't see how Shikai Kenpachi could just tag Uryu and one shot him... Also Uryu transfers the same amount of damage he received to his opponent, so kenpachi's durability doesn't matter here And if Uryu hit Kenpachi with the attack he used on Renji, you know Kenpachi is done for too right... Pairing antithesis with Feder Zwinger would actually defeat Kenpachi relatively easily

Uryu is not stronger than squad 0 either. He didn’t defeat Senjumaru because he was stronger, he definitely is one of the strongest characters in the series but he’s not close to kenpachi. Uryu’s power is not really about strength, it’s more about hax

@ that’s wrong, hax doesn’t always override strength. The hax user has to be in the same tier for the hax to override strength. Pernida is the left hand of the soul king, we’ve literally seen the right hand of the soul king fight with almighty Yhwach. Pernida is at least Mimihagi’s level strength wise if not more. He might even be stronger than Kenpachi. Just because his ability is hax based doesn’t mean he lacks the raw power of Kenpachi

Rob is so stupid, this isn’t Uryu’s season, in the manga he was nothing, it’s still about Ichigo, he’s still the special son Yhwach trained and mentored through Zangetsu, Uryu is nothing more than a joke. Also If an attack kill Uryu that’s it, he can’t do anything about death. He can counter any attack but not death. Everyone he’s faced has held back. He can’t counter Pernida because all Pernida’s attacks are just his nerves all the damage he gets, he’ll just regenerate, what killed Pernida was rapid unstopping regeneration something Uryu can’t even do.
