The old tap on the box trick. That was a good find. Yikes! A costly item but a good repair Jim. That was a good one.

Great video! My Mazda3 2016 also has intermittent failure. I also got a check engine code that stating that the switch in the brake pedal for the brake lights is not working, but the brakes lights actually do work. Could it be that the same "brake-light-switch" also engages the solenoid? Thank you!

I had a furnace controller go bad. $250 dollar board. I traced it to a bad relay. I bought the relay for $1.89 and replaced it. It required soldering and desoldering and all furnace technicians would have replaced the board, but you can fix boards down to the component level if you have the skill. I did like the video and it was very informative.

I hear you. Rebuilt my furnace board with relays and capacitors. I do all my own electronics work, TCM, ECU..etc

hi Jim i have the exact problem with my 2004 mazda3 thanks to you i can now fix it. can you recommend a reputable company to purchase the Junction Fuse Box? THANK YOU BROTHER

Great video Jim. I'm dealing with this right now. If you were to force the relay to remain open would there be any unforeseen problems?

We got a 2012 mazda3 same issue,we thought it was the brake light switch had it replaced, still having a hard time,but doesn't seem to be as bad,I like the ear test I'm going to do that next, I'm trying to figure it out.

Thanks for the video. I have a 2010 Mazda3 hatchback with this same issue, and I am looking online at the wiring schematics and don't see a shift-lock relay. I'm pretty sure the junction box is located on the driver side in my car but, any idea what it might be called or where it is on the 2010 wiring schematics?

Great video!!!! I have the same issue and was wondering why changing the shifter lock fuse isn't an option??
@jimthecarguy3 жыл бұрын
Because the relay is part of the fuse block. Good question.

I replaced the brake switch and it works more often now but it intermittently still won't go out of park. When it won't go out of park, my brake lights aren't working. Could it still be the shifter solenoid?

it was cheep only $25.00
@trfru77624 жыл бұрын
Of course if the car has a lot of miles and resale isn't an issue, you can just break the plastic piece that prevents shifting and not worry about the solenoid energizing.

I have heard that if you change the fuse box the computer needs to be re booted? Have you run across this problem? I am having the same issue along with the taillights going off also. If I tap on the box everything works. This could fix my problem. Wondering about the computer re boot?
@timmosazz4 жыл бұрын
Does this require the computer re booted or re programmed? I have heard the computer reboot is $900.00 dollars.
@jimthecarguy4 жыл бұрын
@@timmosazz good question but no you don't need to reboot the computer.Just plug in the box and reconnect the batter and your good to go.
