No Mazda fan should miss a visit to the Frey collection in Augsburg!
Part 3/5 focuses on the big and bigger 13B-engined Mazda’s of the 1970s.
Cars featured:
1) Mazda Roadpacer AP 1975. Two tonnes of Holden-bodied, rotary-powered limousine. One of only a few hundred built. Aircon-fridge in the boot, too!
2) Passing by a black Eunos Cosmo 20B 1992...
3) Mazda Rx4 Wagon 1975.
4) Mazda RE130 Cosmo AP 1977 (Japanese edition of the Rx-5). Yes, “AP” stands for “Anti-Pollution”. In the mid-to-late 70s, Mazda were conscious about the Rotary Engine’s low CO and NOx emissions (whilst overlooking the fuel economy issue, of course!).
5) Mazda Parkway 26, a 13-seater, 13B-powered bus. The largest rotary-powered vehicle produced. And sporting some very neat tail lamps!

Well spotted! The Mazda Roadpacer was essentially a Holden fitted with a 13B rotary engine and Mazda transmission. Production run was short not only because the executive car marked in Japan was small, but also because the Holden model went out of production shortly after. With that, the cooperation ended. Weighing in at just over two tonnes, it can hardly be said that the Roadpacer was overpowered. Nonetheless, Mazda confidently put the same engine in the Parkway bus and the RePu tow truck as well.

ロードペーサはルーチェ、センティアの生まれ変わりの車なのかな見たことはあるけど乗ったこともないし、さわったこともないよ

The Mazda Roadpacer is an Australian Holden body with a 13B rotary engine and Mazda gearbox. Plus a lot of luxury extras, such as a refrigerator in the trunk. So it is not related to the Luce or other Mazda cars.

当時､センチュリー､プレジデントを抜いて国産車最高価格だった車だがあの巨体に13Bでは辛かったろうな。当時の自動車誌のインプレッションでも芳しいものではなかった。

At the time of visit, they were in the basement with the Rx2 and the rest of the collection.

@@xntrcshft 大変遅くなって申し訳ありませんでした。返信ありがとうございます。MAZDA初の３ナンバーでフラッグシップモデルの車、エンジンは１３Ｂのロータリーロータリーのみでシートはセパレートタイプとベンチタイプ　７５年〜７７年迄の２年間だけの生産で２年後の７９年に販売終了　MAZDAの隠れた伝説の名車ですよ
