Forget the repair kit, you do not need touch screen. Open the multimedia unit from the back and unplug the ribbon cable to the touch screen. Put back together and never have the issue again. Mine has been fine for years now. This issue happens from using chemicals to clean the screen which create shadows in the glass which emulate 'touch' when light hits the s GG reen

If I remove that ribbon to disconnect the touch feature does the screen still work for viewing? Sounds like that ribbon is only for the ability to touch?

Yes it will. The screen will still display but, the touch part won't work. If you do this, it will set a code B108E:04 for display system internal failures. Of course if you have the ghost touch issue it probably already had a code set. This code will not turn on the check engine light.

Do all cars use the same code 70 when testing the unit?

All Mazdas with the connect system do.

What I would like to know is do the new ones have the same problem? And have to replace it again?
@ShopForemanGarage15 күн бұрын
The answer is no. I can not find reason behind it anymore. It had something to do with contamination when the display was built or something like that. This is only for the 6th gen Mazdas. The 7th gen (or new ones) do not have this issue.

@@ShopForemanGarage Thanks. I have to put one in my daughters 2018 CX5. Your instructions are simple to follow and I will be getting an OEM screen.

Where to buy this repair kit?

This is only available at your Mazda dealer. You need to check the part number to make sure the kit actually fits your display.

You should go to your dealer and have them run a VIS on your vehicle. Some vehicles have a warranty extension that will cover it.
