The wait was worth it! This thing is just marvellous! When the CX-60 was first announced, I was more excited about the straight 6 inline engines than the PHEV versions. It's super smooth, makes relatively great sound plus it's very economical and quick enough.

And this here is a weaker 200 hp version, the 254 hp variant will be even better. True - the 200 hp version will be the sweet spot considering the value and amazing mpg figures.

@@paulira7407 It's so cool you get the 340 hp version there! In Europe, the gasoline I-6 will have slightly under 300 hp.

Cheers! That's an excellent question! To be honest, I didn't pay any attention to the rpm vs speed aspect, but from now on I should! I did some digging around: the 4WD 254 hp version does exactly 1500 rpm @100 km/h. I would say that the gearing is relatively similar on the 4WD and RWD versions so it should do around 1750-2000 rpm @ 120 kmh.

Cheers! I really appreciate your positive feedback! Given a choice, I would pick a diesel - it's way smoother and makes better sounds than the 2.5 in the PHEV. Obviously, PHEV is smoother in EV mode. Most importantly, achieving a great fuel economy figure is so easy. With PHEV you constantly have to charge it to get great results. And yea the power - totally fine, PHEV is quicker but then you have to compromise on the economy. With the diesel, you can hoon it around and still the mpg is fine. True, the weaker diesel comes only in RWD.

@@Specproof hi again, thanks so much for your answer, I'm no where near buying either of those cars but my dad traded in his ID4 for a CX 60 phev ,power is crazy from where I was sitting. Once again really like your work, you're probably much busier than I am ATM but when you find the time I'd definitely suggest making those in depth reviews for future cars like you did the CX 60 , very comprehensive break down.

That's the right engine for an SUV. don't think the 3.0 Skyactiv X Petrol will get any better. But wait and see. We'll know more by the end of the year.

Agreed! In the end, it depends on the torque figure. Overall diesel will make more sense because of the fantastic economy.
