Great video. At the last to take it out of service mode you say press down the brake pedal and then pull the park brake and click on and off 4 times. My car I had to press the gas pedal all the way down to take it out of service mode

Nice video. Very well done I do wish you'd reply to the comments asking what bolt size for that little bolt that helps remove the rotor, but i'm sure we can find that out somewhere else. Also for anyone doing this, when you get replacement clips on a non OEM set, make sure they compare exactly to the old ones in size. I recently had some Duralast Gold clips that came with the pads for my Honda CRV and the clips were very close but slightly different in overall width and they kept scraping the rotor! Definitely will compare them every time I change clips.

Thanks for the great informative video! By far it has more details than the DIY ones I've seen so far. I have just subscribed to the channel as I have a late model Mazda3 and likely will leverage your videos to do some maintenance. Just one question tho, I didn't see you lube the retaining clips rail and the pads' contact points, is it not required on these Mazda's? I'll be doing my rear brake replacement soon so any reply is appreciated.

Within the first 2 min of the video you have shown that you clearly know what you are doing. Very well-made video. Question, do I need to put the veh in "brake service" mode if I am servicing the front brakes?

Personally, I always put a light amount of grease on the back of the pad, to prevent any sticking/rusting of the piston to the back of the pad. I don't know if it truly makes a difference, my grandpa taught me that way, so that is the way I do it.

I have a 2016 CX5 and have used this service more each time I do the brakes. Now I added a 2023 CX5 and am wondering if this s method still works. Also any chance for a video fixing the power seat? I know it's a common problem for them to make noise going back and forth which is a problem have but all the videos I've found aren't great. Would love to fix it myself and save some cash.

Thanks for the good video! Question, do you need to bleed the lines after putting it all back together to normal? I test drove mine but the breaks feel pretty soft, not as firm as they were when I started…

Can you post the same for the front pads/rotor replacement on 2019+ CX30 and Mazda3 assuming those are the same ...
@CARDIAXPLAYS Жыл бұрын
Its pretty much the same process for a Mazda3 and CX-30 of the same years.
@M9_Prime Жыл бұрын
It's same process for the front but you don't need to worry about the parking brake so technically easier.

Great video, I see car had 75000 miles. Is that the 1st time rear rotors were replaced since car was new? thanks
@blknblu8303 Жыл бұрын
You did not put grease on the abutment clips. The clips should get a little grease as well as the ears of the brake pads. All sliding parts should have a little grease.
@CARDIAXPLAYS Жыл бұрын
Your right. The reason I did not put grease in that area is because of the area the vehicle is in. I live kind of in a desert area where there's tons of sand and dust storms. the dust is like a magnet to that grease. If the vehicle was in any other place I would have applied grease in that area.

Am trying to get a brake caliper replaced for my cx9 grand touring 2016 ,do I of to get from the dealer?
@CARDIAXPLAYS Жыл бұрын
It depends. Is it for the rear or for the front? I would say that you can get a front caliper from the auto part store but the rear I would get from the dealer. The rear caliper just has a lot more moving parts internally than the front calipers do to the electronic parking brake actuator.

Did you clean your new rotor with brake cleaner to remove the grease
@CARDIAXPLAYS Жыл бұрын
I actually did. you can actually see the brake cleaner drying up as I'm installing it.

I have a 2022 CX-9 15k miles and hear a clicking noise in the front when I change directions. Asked a few mechanics and got some weird stories. I believe it is the pad hardware but not sure if should I replace the hardware or just grease the current ones.
@Lexlugr Жыл бұрын
There is an inherent issue on CX-9s where the pads shift on the calipers, like there is some slack when you change directions. Mazda issued new hardware and there is a TSB somewhere calling for greasing contact points and backing plate, but it's not a "true" fix in my opinion.... I'll look for it. I recommend that if you're under warranty, take it in to get looked at and specifically cite the TSB. Edit:, found one, but doesn't include your 2020. Fix is the same static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10173099-0001.pdf

What size is the bolt you can use to remove the rotor?

do you have to torque the bolts?

Supposedly that permatex purple dries out of you put it in the sliding pins and they get stuck there. Better off using actual brake grease.
