Funny I saw this exact car on the road the other day, same color and everything. Had no idea it existed. Thought Mazda was trying too hard stuffing PHEV badging all over the vehicle LOL

PHEVs need to get at least 60 miles of EV range on the highway (without engine turning on) to be truly a transition vehicle.
@barryw94733 ай бұрын
A lot of people buy PHEVs for the tax credit and then never plug them in. I have a neighbor with a Jeep wrangler that has never been plugged in.

I been reading the next Prius or mid life upgrade will be having 120 miles of eletric range compared to the current 53.4 miles

It does have Lane Keep Assist. This is the value choice in teh segment, BMW X5 50e is probablynthe best with about 39 miels or pure EV range. The MB GLE 450e comes with a 4 cylinder and gets 50 miles ofvrange. It also features a CCS port for fast charging but it is actually limited to about 50kw charging speed.

@@MachE_VLOGHi Liv! Thanks so much for this link. I viewed it and the EV6 is a great car! I do think the Mach-E looks better. Looking forward to your review of the IONIQ 5!

I have the CX-90 and I use EV mode to go to and from work, which is 10 miles each way. Otherwise, I'm in Normal mode most of the time. I'm still trying to figure out the most efficient mode to drive in, but I figure even if I can save a little by using EV then that's just a little less I need to use gas.

In the UK they cut all tax breaks for plug-in-hybrids becuse lot of companies brought them for the company workers due to the tax befits esp under the company car tax rates but due to people not having the training, chargers/charging cables at home and above all company car owners having a fuel card thus never having the need to pay for fuel were using them as self charging vechiles thus it was worked out 99% of cars were never pluged in - hence the tax breaks were removed

Love your WDST shirt! I grew up in upstate NY. The first time I heard Nirvana was on WDST. My wife and I are thinking about a plug in hybrid. We are missing our Volt. The volt's system was different in that it would only use the battery only up to around 50 miles and then switch over to using gas but it would still use the battery to drive the wheels so there was only one gear. The only times it used gas is it was very cold and needed it for heat or when you specifically hold the battery charge. Prices are very high on phevs so we got a Ford escape hybrid in addition to our bolt EUV but I still get so mad when I have to get gas. 😂

I would have loved the Volt. The car was just too small for my 6'4" body. I could never have fit any passengers behind me.

We actually are leasing this. We have a RWD Model 3 as the commuter to work car and the CX-90 PHEV as the family vehicle and we love it!

Welp… 'tis true that far too many people resist going pure electric. I'd even say that their resistance is now stronger than it was just two or three year ago. The fossil fools must be delighted to see that their anti-EV blitz lately has been effective in scaring consumers with their FUD. Thanks to its gas tank, this Mazda has a much longer range than most EVs, and the three rows will appeal to larger families. Personally, I hope such families would also take a Rivian R1S or a Kia EV9 for a nice, long test drive. In the long run they would save money on both fuel and maintenance.
@FordEnthusiast4133 ай бұрын
No offense but the Mazda CX90 PHEV is way better looking than both the Rivian R1S and KIA EV9.

I think hybrids should get 50 mpg. I don't care what the oil companies say about it.
@skcbiol3 ай бұрын
Depends on size of the vehicle. Gen 2 volt gets 40 mpg. RAV4 Prime gets 33-35 on the highway, realistically. Prius prime barely gets up to 50. The point on plug-in hybrids is that you use ev most of the time but don’t have the range anxiety on road trips.

Great indepth review, thank you. Please consider reviewing the Mitsubishing Outlander PHEV 20kWh-GT as it appears to be comparable to this Mazda. I picked up my 2024 Outlander PHEV 20kWh in Apr 2024 and have been averaging 95 to 100 kms in ECO and EV mode, with HVac off, while driving in the city. I leave it at this and wait fir your review.

We looked at the Outlander PHEV also, the new ones are very roomy, but, it was relatively expensive, we ended up leasing a Mach-E for less. The capitalized cost on the lease with all taxes and fees was $37K after dealer discount and Ford lease credit. We will probably buy it out after the lease is over. We owned a 2018 Outlander and liked it, but I am done with gas.

I looked at these. This vehicle is a hard pass for me on many levels. First I'm 6'7" and I looked at the interior specifications online, it's not going to be comfortable for me. The EV range is entirely insufficient, as it is on most PHEV. You have a gas powertrain that needs care and feeding. And it's expensive, this trim is probably $55K. Basically the optimum worst. Give me a BEV over this.
@johnpoldo88173 ай бұрын
Yuk, this like other hybrids is awful. You still have all the maintenance of ICE and stop at gas stations. Why would I want to drag around a heavy battery with a small engine. Mach-e is much better especially with the Tesla charging network. Hybrids should not qualify for any government incentive because the vehicle can run 100% on fuel.
