Your video on this car was excellent. We purchased it as a second car with my partner using another vehicle. He is 6’4” so I would have loved to have seen how comfortable you were in the passenger seat. Again I had made my decision to buy this car as it was perfect for me and your information sealed the deal. Thank you.

Thank you for the clarity and thoroughness of this excellent and very honest review review of what is a good choice provided you have home charging and only need very limited range. I have test driven it and found the car very comfortable and pleasant to drive. So much so, I ordered one. Your review was one that helped me make my choice. Well done.

Fyi, you only need to press the power button once to start the car, as long as the brake is depressed. The reason he had to press 2 times is that when you don't depress the brake, the power (or start/stop button in other Mazdas and most other cars) works differently. The first press is infotainment, the second is accessories the third is off again. If you hold the brake and press the button from any of the three states, it goes straight to "on".

Finally picked mine up on 17/11/23 and chose to drive home in heavy rush hair traffic, something I usually avoid at all costs. Enjoyed every moment of that journey. A lovely drive and a comfortable one too. Have charged it up once. Despite the relative cold weather, frosty nights and day time temperatures between 2 and 5 degrees C the range has not been that much affected. One adverse observation; the rear doors aren’t particularly practical.

Battery percentage doesn't matter for the low battery warning. I know silly, but it's actually popping up when you reach 50km range.

Because its such a nice car its a shame about the small battery. Maybe they could drop the price to sell more of them. With the small range and high price its not really viable. A 40-45KwHr battery would have made it ok.

Hello guys, I share with you my experience after 3 months driving a MX30, which is absolutely a very gorgeous car, inside-out with outstanding finishing quality and very comfortable and pleasant to drive. BUT WHAT A SHAME!!! Technically as an EV, MX30 is useless! When the temperature drops to freezing point or even near, driving range on the highway drops to 110KM (150KM off highway) and worst is the charging time, it takes over 3 hours (in cold weather) to recharge the battery on a CCS 50KW/h charging station and not 45 minutes as announced by Mazda! You need to stop 3 hours at a fast charging station to be able to drive less than one hour!

This is unfortunately true for ALL EV's. There is not a single electric car that's not losing massive amounts of range and increasing in charging times. Yes, it's true - charging on the Mazda is particularily painful because it's a small pack with weak charging system - when the battery pack is cold you're better off hooking it up to an AC charger, rather than wasting your time at a CCS. The only solution for quick charging is to run the car HARD on a highway at speeds exceeding 120kmh for probably 30-60km depending on the outside temp, and getting the battery pack indicator to about 3 o'clock - at that point you'll be quick charging. Anything else is a waste of time.

When I test drove it, it had a function (which can be manually disabled) that engages the battery warming system automatically: is that engaged for you?

Great review! It’s a great car! Range small but battery small. The drive, build quality even paint finish is beautiful. Now on 2nd hand market it’s a bargain. If you just do small trips, it’s perfect. As refined and well build (well almost) as my BMW 6 series plus it looks great and despite the impracticality of the rear doors I love them. Will be soon forgotten and it’s a shame as Mazda put time and effort into this.

Yes, good video.....but let's get into the "real world" and drive this car on winter roads here in Norway. Battery heater is non existent, no regen and limited speed adding to the many problems. Again, another EV car that's rushed to the market without it being ready. Its riddled with software issues like so many other EV's. Now for braking on black ice... how are you supposed to stop the car if you have no regen? Use the brake pedal?? That will just lock the wheels and you will crash. Watch my video on KZbin "MX30 Cold Battery". An update to my video will follow in a couple of days.
