I've owned several MX5s during the years of my driving.. now, I've decided to get an MX5 RF MXR 2022. It is so much fun! The only thing that I've changed in the car so far is the oversized antenna in the back. I bought s 3 inch KSaAuto copper core antenna. I tested it yesterday, the radio reception is just as good as the original antenna. It's an amazing thing to drive!

I've had 32 ounce drinks in the forward cupholder of my ND with no problem. Just need a lid and straw. It's actually the best cupholder I've ever used, it has a "tongue" that allows for different sizes. Too much grip spoils the fun for me. I've actually downgraded to all seasons. They grip well enough, even in the rain. But, because they break away so slowly, I'm very confident throwing the rear end around. This is my fourth MX5 and I'm still obsessed. I've put 45,000 miles on my current car in less than a year (and burned through two sets of tires).

Here in Germany the top trim level has Recaro seats, have a ND 1. 1. modification: Big brake kit cheap K- Sports but the only availiable street legal one here , OK so far. 2. Mod: getting rid of the stupid sound - tube. Stiffer springs from Eibach ( genuine Mazda with Mazda part number ) and a oil catch can from Mishimoto ...
@goldblade843 жыл бұрын
There's 3 mods that the average buyer should do: - Short Antenna - Muffler (Borla is much louder, but not so loud that it's obnoxious) - Stiffer Sway Bars (Flying Miata Sway Bars + Mounting Support) The sway bars dramatically change the handling characteristics of the car. Without the sway bar upgrade, you'll have a lot more body roll, but more playfulness in your transitions. With the sway bar upgrade, you'll get a much more precision driving focused machine.
@mikeb95692 жыл бұрын
I assert that it's better to first get a coilover that limits roll before a sway bar upgrade. Anti-sway bars tie the independent suspension together (kinda defeats the purpose of an independent suspension).

It actually doesn't feel as small as I expected. Once I'm seated, it feel pretty much like any other car. Not much storage space in the cabin, but also not nearly as bad as I expected - the 'glove box' is surprisingly roomy (fits the manual, couple pairs of sunglasses, bottle of sunscreen and still has a fair bit of room left) and with a wireless charging phone holder on the dash I actually don't have much else to store. There's actually additional storage compartments behind each seat too, though those aren't super accessible.

@@hogey74 Sorry for the slow reply mate! I got the Pro Comforts and stuck with the recommended 7kg front 3kg rear, and I couldnt be happier. As my daily driver comfort was my priority and I believe the car rides just as good, if not slightly better than stock (bumps are firmer but handled much more quickly, the car feels unsettled much less). The handling improvement was huge, it still feels like an MX5 with a bit of initial roll, but everything from turn-in to mid-corner adjustment is sharper, and more controllable. Best 2.5k I've ever spent - would be incredible if Mazda Australia partnered with MCA and offered them as a dealer addon (like how Eibachs lowering springs are offered in certain markets), because they could seriously pass as a high end OEM setup.

it's actually not cheaper to buy a performance package over a base that you mod yourself later for one crucial reason: interest. A 50 grand car with 6% interest (even 3% interest) over a 45 grand version means your additional 5 grand of performance mods is being bolstered by the other 45 to serve in phenomenally increasing the amount you pay over the course of a loan. the only way around this is being a rich bastard and annihilating the loan in short order with a massive principle pay off, or buying the car outright. something even the most affluent mx5ers won't have the coin to do. that said, I still purchased an RF ND2 brembo bilstein recaro package with the 6 speed and complete factory aero kit all round because I'm a sucker 🥴

Eh, the 86 / BRZ isn't its competition however, given most people shopping for a roadster, don't buy a 2+2 Coupe. And same for people shopping for a coupe, they won't buy a roadster. The closest you can get in price is the 370Z convertible. Its typical competition was the Mercedes SLK250 which is now discontinued, the Porsche Boxster, and BMW Z4. And yes. Most people who dislike the MX5 never driven one and will swear the dead and done S2000 is better cause "dur it has 240hp on paper with 9k rpm so must be better". Benchracers. I got a 2019 MX5 over a newer Porsche. I had a 2008 MX5 and a 2002 986 Boxster S with the 3.2L previously. The 08 MX5 was originally for the wife, and I didn't like it _before_ driving it. That should tell you enough. As for a Fiat over the MX5, laughable. Very laughable. Enjoy the engine failures before 100k miles. And being slower.
