well this news coverage had a nice subtle bias towards British rule in the North East of Ireland.

I guess that alot of people around the world 🌎 looking from an outside perspective didn't agree with what was going on in Northern Ireland, the British empire doesn't exactly have the best of reputations .

@meansteve3602 Like it or not, Associated Press (AP) is an American news organisation. Even the narrator is American, too! If you don’t like what they say, take it up with them. It’s a bit rich to complain about what they are saying & blame it on the British, they haven’t got anything to do with what AP print or say at all, in exactly the same way that Washington doesn’t tell RTÉ what to say/show.

@@mufc3216Really?! Nothing has changed from when Sands & co went around murdering people & blowing things up, through to the Good Friday Agreement, through to now. One of the reasons Brexit was such a mess is because of the ‘Northern Ireland’ situation. Don’t want hard borders, but do want to be seen as part of the UK, but still want the freedom to live & work whichever side of the border suits. It would take an absolutely cataclysmic event for there to be a united Ireland within our lifetimes. The British aren’t really arsed with Northern Ireland, they see it as a burden. The real problem comes with the Loyalists who refuse to cede British citizenship & refuse to adopt Irish citizenship (despite the irony of lots of them choosing to have both a British passport & an Irish one because EU customs is deliberately now a pain in the arse). Ireland is welcome to be united, but the Loyalists would accuse the British government of sending them to the dogs & abandoning them if they just pulled out. Ireland should be doing more to convince the people within all 6 Northern counties that they belong together. It really would be better for everyone *if* it happened, however, if they started rioting about Brexit, you can guarantee that they will go mental about reunification.

A true to heart revolutionary has heard of Bobby Sands. All of uss who work to restore the balance to Mother Earth.. has heard of his sacrifice. We know who he is and his name echoes throughout eternity. That's how important Bobby Sands is.

They where political prisoners the entire problem was political look what Maggie did to the miners there wasn’t any bankers with the miners or hunger strikers.I do agree with Maggie that planting bombs is a crime the IRA lost a lot of empathy using those tactics but it was a really dirty war.I Am against bomb planting involving civilians by anyone it’s a crime against humanity.

IRA most effective ‘guerrilla army’ of all time says convicted terror chief Adair on Tommy Robinson podcast Loyalist gang used Tina Turner classic as theme song but Adair says Provos most sophisticated paramilitary grouping John Toner Sun 31 Dec 2023 at 07:00 Ex-UDA kingpin Johnny Adair believes the IRA were the most effective “guerrilla army” of all time and admitted he wouldn’t have the courage of the Hunger Strikers. Convicted terror chief Adair (60) has also fondly remembered narrowly escaping jail with his nipples intact after a prison officer attempted to remove his jewellery with a hacksaw. Speaking to career criminal and anti-Islam hate preacher Tommy Robinson on his podcast, Adair was full of praise for his deadly enemies of the past and revealed he would have refused to go on hunger strike for his cause. Robinson says: “I’ve seen the IRA described as the best guerrilla warfare army there has ever been”, to which Adair says: “And they were, that’s a fact and I’m not scared to say that, I’ll not tell a lie, of course they were. “Their bombmaking technology was a step ahead of the British Army, the army tried to keep ahead of them and the IRA was always in front. “Even the Hunger Strikers, I grudgingly respect them men too, they starved themselves to death for a political cause, dedication at the highest level. “Now I’m dedicated, and I knew one day I could lose my life and the IRA would get me, and I accepted that because I didn’t know what day it would be. “These hunger strikers, death was staring them in the face for 60-odd days. If I was asked to give my life on hunger strike? No I wouldn’t do it, I wouldn’t have been as brave to do that. “I was willing to accept that the IRA might kill me but I couldn’t see it coming, they’re sneaking up behind me or riddling my car, it’s unexpected. “But these men knew what they were doing, volunteered to die and starved themselves for a political cause.”
