Dear Mr Wagner Well, I did not supouse that in other languages Mazurek is called Mazurka. In Poland, where I live is obwiously Mazurek and because I like dance a little, i found totaly differend rythmically french Mazurka dance called in Poland Mazurka. So I thought that in English names of dances are in oryginal form, like in Polish. And someone here made a mistake with Mazurek calling Mazurka. So I appologise.

I love this. The music is played more slowly and the dancing is truer to the Mazurka. Wish I could have been there to applaud

The Mazurka is one of five of Poland's National Dances. This dance and music has been adopted by many, including the royal court of the Czars of Russia.

LOVE the comments. This is from Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky. As close to sacred as dance music can get. So, it was written by a Russian, and it is part of the most famous ballet ever.

AsatorIV does not know what he is talking about. The MAZURKA IS one of the 5 national dances of Poland.
@tread_well_frank27727 жыл бұрын
Even though many polish dances were popular in 19th century europe(mazurka, Polanaise, Polka -- much different than the noisey crazy Polka we now in the US -- et al), the music for the ballet was written by Frenchman Clément Philibert Léo Delibes 21 February 1836 - 16 January 1891). In 1790 Poland was no longer a nation. it was occupied and divided up between Austria-Hungary, the Germanies(only until bismarck made all these German principalities into one in 1870)and Russia. Poland had to wait to 1918 to become one nation. and then occupied by German nazis in ww2 and then a country again after world war 2. Although a Soviet Sattelite country, the Polish communist Party and the Soviet Union made concessions to Poland more than other eastern European countries before the dissolution of the Soviet Union in late 1989 early 1990. Jews were treated well in the German and Austrian partitions and treated worst by Russia. since the diaspora began Jews were treated worst and murdered more than in Europe than in the the Muslim Caliphate, especially the last caliphate based in Turkey thus the Ottoman empire in its last 400 years. Jews found safe haven in the Ottoman Empire after fleeing European persecution and pogroms(massacres). Jews had 2nd class status, christians 3rd class, and Muslim Shiites were most of time considered open game. the ottoman's were better to Jews than Jews were treated in Europe. but the Ottoman Sunni Mohammadan Empire committed terrible atrocities against Shiite(like most muslims in Iran) and Aremenian cristian genocide in the late 19th, early 20th century. The only Jewish safe haven in Europe was started by King Casimir the Great in the 14th century. it took another 300 or so years before the Enlightned autocrat king of Austria Joseph II in 1780 stopped the Jewish persecutions, mandated freedom of religion and getting rid of the Star of David Austrian and most European Jews had to have stitched on their clothes. the star was mark that you could scapegoat, even kill jews if the economy was bad or when the black plaque arrived. However another wrong does not make a right. Israelis ever since the state was founded in Palestine have treated Palestinians terribly. When the Israel State began in 1948 they kicked out almost a million palestinians and committed atrocities. On Gaza And in the last 6 or so years Israel has responded to rockets(4th of July Rockets compared to Israels powerful and deadly weapons I love Jews, loath Israelis. about 1000 children were killed in the last two "wars" or bombings of Gaza The European empires and the muslim empires after the death of Mohammad were the two super powers for about 1000 years. Their leaders and kings cared little about Christianity or Islam. they twisted religion to animate the masses to fight each other like on grounds they will kill you if you don't kill them or for spreading their religion by war. During the Soviet Union versus the west and US, ironically because both sides had nuclear weapons their were never real wars between the two, just the cold war, and proxy wars around the world one side backed by US and the other by the USSR until 1990. Poland produced many fine composers when they were not occupied. many fine modern composers too. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Polish_composers btw the great composer for the piano Chopin(pronounced Showpan) was half Polish and half French One of my favorite modern Polish composers is Witold Roman Lutosławski
@Piastowic7 жыл бұрын
What is all your rhetoric about??? What do Jews have anything to do with Polish National dances, in this case the Mazurka? Let's be clear, Poles produced some of greatest achievements in Literature and Music while under occupation by her enemies. Polish Art did bot cease, but thrived during occupation. Yes, Chopin was half Polish and half French, but his heart was all Polish. Fredrick's father fought during the Polish Uprising against the Russians. I find your comments biased and anti-polish.
@jankowalski-lg6bs7 жыл бұрын
You're right, Piastowic. Mazur (name mazurka is a very unfortunate translation of the French). Dance was a social dance and obligatory for Polish conviviality of the sixteenth century and was the variety of folk dance oberek. Please do not confuse dance the mazur with mazurek (please see what is unfortunate translation mazurka). These are completely different dances and melodies. And what about the Jews? Jews were expelled from all countries in Europe (even the French Revolution in the eighteenth century was anti-Jewish) and Poland was the only country that received them (from the twelfth century). In contrast, a former Muscovite state was state the Khazars (a nomadic tribe of Turkish origin), which has adopted the religion of Judaism. You Khazars was in the valley of the Volga and the Don and clung to the shores of the Caspian Sea. Confusing Khazars with the Jews (which is the name of an imaginary) is very characteristic. George W Obama is wrong, that the Austrians and Prussia not persecuted Jews. In these countries the Jews were a persecuted even in the days of Bismarck.

Dear Konserwacja, I am a 72 year old man, all of whose grandparents came from Poland, I think I do know what I am talking about. I do not deny that word endings can change the meanings of words, as in Pan/Pana denoting gender. However the root of the word here is Mazur. AsatorIV was clearly denying ANY Polish connection with the root word and not making the subtle distinction that you are. The National Anthem of Poland is called Dabrowski's MAZURKA. I rest my case. Thank you for your input.
@jwagnergr11 жыл бұрын
Dear Konserwacja, Sorry I ran out of space. One more point and I wish to put this silly discussion to bed. It is obvious that we are talking about one and the same thing with two different languages. [ Polish National Anthem = Dabrowski's MAZURKA] English [Polski Hymn Narodowy = MAZUREK Dabrowskiego] Polish There may indeed be a French MAZURKA which is different from the Polish version, but you then use the modifier "francese", which is exactly what you did in your original comment.
