As a 21 year old I naturally grew up with CD and as such the first music I got as a very young child in the early to mid 2000s was on that format. So of couse despite how much I appreciate vinyl CDs still have sentimentality to me just as vinyl records will have to someone who grew up with them.

Hi Mazzy, My love with CDs and box sets began in 1986 and I have never relinquished... and never ceased. Wow, love to finally getting up close and personal with your CD wall. Unbelievable all encompassing CD collection. I am standing by my earlier claim that you are a Renaissance man. A man for all seasons and genres. God bless and keep well, angel of the VC and CD community, Tino

love that you love CD's as well as vinyl, my two fave and most often listened as far as music, also my most collected, but I stream a bit (lower quality than vinyl or cd) and have a small amount of cassettes. People think CD's are dead. Not at Mazzy's house, or mine and like everything else, they will make a comeback.

Hi Mazzy, amazing Compact Disc collection! Glad you don’t ignore them like most everyone else seems to be doing these days. So happy you mentioned Michael Penn, what an underrated artist. I love all of his albums but probably Resigned is my favorite. His wife is not too shabby herself. Jellyfish, World Party, REM, Elvis Costello and XTC are some other highlights for me. Long live CD’s! Take care. - Matt

Pre 1985 I had amassed a substantial vinyl collection.....post 1985 I have been a cd guy....mostly for convenience......storage....rippability.....I do miss cover art etc. But I really like cd box sets etc.....currently waiting for Van Morrison live 1973 2 , 3 and 4.....just picked up the Donovan 1965 cd.....great sound!......very cool cd collection......its nice to see someone else who can go from King Crimson to Norman Blake to Mose Allison............

I put off getting into CD s until 1990 when I could no longer buy vinyl. Once Columbia Record Club went CD I was screwed. When I jumped I with CD I did in a big way I bought a billion CDs but I never sold any albums. That Flamin Groovie box set is super cool along with the Gainsbourg. Nice selection Mazzy.

Our opinions and history with cds are very similar. First cd in my collection is Abba, too. I wonder how many alphabetical collections begin with Abba and end with ZZ Top...

Wonderful video. My cd collection looks very similar but not as diverse. My record collection has a large hole from 1986 to about 2010 when I thought cds were the thing. Sometimes they were but when they first started rereleasing old lps in the digital format they often didn't take much care and I would end up buying the record. I'm not a cd snob; I just wanted to have the music.

What a fantastic cd collection mazzy,I like vinyl too but as with CDs you get good and bad vinyl.think it's the extra tracks that you get on cd that keeps me purchasing them, though if I could afford it would have both formats.my taste is overwhelmingly blues orientated which is half my collection.great video great collection and great channel.top marks to you for sharing all the music you love.

My first CD was McCartney's Flowers In The Dirt back in 89 and it still plays perfectly. I learnt pretty quickly that you have to care for them like vinyl so they play without skipping. It's one of my OCD things is to keep them in mint condition, so no scratches or fingerprints. :) I never let them out of the house, ha ha! I must admit I prefer jewel cases to the shitty mini LP cardboard sleeves that are about now. It's an amazing collection of music Mazzy you have on CD and Vinyl, a very eclectic bunch of music indeed. The nerd in me noticed that in your ELO collection Discovery, Time, my fav, Secret Messages, and Balance OF Power seemed to be absent from your shelf, what gives? :)

love your collection mazzy...i am indeed of a certain age, and sadly sold off alot of my vinyl simply due to moving around from state to state, rather than my love for cds...in fact, i never liked cds, but unfortunately, if you wanted the latest van morrison or tina vero or tracy chapman or whoever you liked, you had to sacrifice your preference and buy a cd because there were no vinyl versions available....it wasn't until the mid 90's that i finally gave into buying a cd player and my car at the time had one, so it became inevitable...but...if something was readily available on vinyl, that was what i would purchase....be well mazzy...peace always...rocky

God forgive me...I'm gonna be That Guy: "Well, actually..." that Doughboys, Playboys and Cowboys set at the end is a very sweet collection of golden era western swing, not really cowboy music. I'ma kook for western swing and other than pretty much every Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys box sets one could really get away with just that "Doughboys" box as the only western swing collection you need. Cheers for a great channel, Norman! I just found you a couple days ago looking for a good classic jazz vlog and I've been delighted with your posts. Thanks, from a former Seattleite.

WHY NOT EMPHASISE 2 BIG PLUSES THAT ARE RARELY MENTIONED? SOUND. ANALOG VS DIGITAL CAN BE DEBATED MORE ABOUT PERSONAL PREFERENCE. BUT AFTER THAT ITS ALL DOWNHILL FOR VINYL. CD. BETTER GRAPHICS AND LINER NOTES. LAST OF THE COLLECTIBLE HANDSON FORMATS BEFORE STREAMING. STREAMING IS A JOKE. NOT A FANS INTEREST. BUT THE BIG 2 ARE PORTABILITY. CAN'T PLAY AN LP IN THE CAR. NEED TO COPY IT. EITHER ON TAPE OR IN SOME KIND OF FILE. NO NEED FOR THIS WITH CD. AND UNLESS YOU HAVE A ROOM YOU CAN DEDICATE TO YOUR LP COLLECTION,TRY STORING 1000 OR MORE LPS. CRATES ANDBUCKLING WALL SHELVES. WITH CDS YOU CAN ADAPT BASIC FREE STANDING BOOKSHELVES TO ACCOMODATE YOUR 1000 PLUS COLLECTION. IVE BEEN DOING THAT FOR OVER 30 YEARS. FINE IN A STUDIO APARTMENT.
