Hi Mazzy, I loved the Dylan movie. I went Christmas morning, 9 AM hoping other people would be there. Cars in the parking lot. They were seeing the other movies. I was in the theater by myself. It turned out to be a good thing. No distraction. I was pulled in to the story, and the time flew by. I see most of the music biopics. They are my thing. 😊

Thanks, Mazzy! I loved how Bob defended the Kinks (and by implication the rocking and electric British invasion) in the film. Ray and Dave Davies were in part inspired by Dylan to go beyond songs with simple lyrics to write story-telling masterpieces like Waterloo Sunset, Death of a Clown, Dead End Street, Autumn Almanac, Lola, Come Dancing etc. etc. Keep up the great rants, Mazzy. HNY Mazzie another year of great content to come! Saw 'A Complete Unknown' last Saturday. I was impressed, I must say. The last 'bio-pic' I saw was Bohemian Rhapsody which was also pretty good. I recommend the Dylan movie to everyone. Favourite line: (dylan's retort to George Wein (?) complaining about the raucous sound of 'All Day and All of the Night' . Wein: "you're not going to play this type of crap are you?" Bob: (defensively)That's the Kinks!"

I wonder if older folks listening to vinyl before the advent of CDs are simply more tolerant to pops and clicks than are younger vinyl listeners who are coming from digital only media. I remember one Clash song on my album had a quick skip on it, and after buying the CD version, I still expected that skip as a natural part of the song for years after.

Considering the billions of album and tracks I enjoy from the 1940's to late 1980's, I find little or no reason to go looking for new music. I have no skin in the game to go looking for new music beyond say the late 80's, early 90's. I talk to others that feel that same way and there is nothing wrong with that. I love alt rock for example from the 80's like Echo, Talk Talk, Kate Bush, The The, so many. However, when I hear about a band that apparently just released an album and they sound like whoever, I just listen to whoever instead. I'm a 62 year old with lots of vinyl and despite that, there are many albums I would want that I don't own from the 60's and 70's lets say, that I would be considering long before any new music. Happy new year Mazzy.

Female pop stars celebrate a record-breaking year. Female pop artists topped the singles chart for an unprecedented 34 weeks - the highest ever figure. In part a reflection of the rise in demographics of more women being more highly educated and better paid. More freedom for concert going and albums.
