Marketing and Finance, both have their own importance. Also, students with Finance background can go for marketing job if they aspire to make a career in it. Marketing field is for people who are creatively inclined and have persuasive skills. The two specializations are different from each other and students should think wisely before making a choice.

There is no point in doing mba after doing an engineering from iit or nit. According to me those who do an mba have no idea why they had first appeared for jee exams...if they only wanted to learn about business a bba or bcom degree would had been better.

See you should not choose a college which only offers these two specializations. You should choose a college which offers campus placements and jobs in all MBA specializations especially in that particular specialization in which you are more interested. I think you had not done a mistake, but a blunder in choosing your college. In reality, the essence, rigour, exposure (team building, marketing, presentations, communication and at an aggregate level 'a corporate culture') of an MBA program lies in a top business school in India like IIMs, KJ SIMSR, SIIB etc and abroad like Wharton Business School, Stanford Business School, Harvard Business School etc and not in any college.
