Hi thank you for this video, I am a 23 year old financial service representative, im looking to go back to further my education.. Im not quite sure what i want to do career wise.. .. i was thinking an mba or msc ? what is your opinion on what the best route is for me ?
@TouchMBA7 жыл бұрын
Milani, I think your first step is to figure out where you want to go (i.e. your career goals); only then can you know whether the Masters in Management, Masters in Science in [Specialization], or MBA is the best move for you. Given that you've already started working, you probably want to focus on the latter 2. Check out our A+B=C formula for career planning here: touchmba.com/how-to-choose-the-right-mba-programs-for-you/

Given your level of experience, an MBA (or Masters of Finance) seems like the best option

Hi, Im a freshly grad student from btech electronics communication engineering, Im looking forward to pursue business rather than taking up a job. Would MIM being a one year course pay us enough in the long run? Does the MIM degree have a good value in market? Please help me out.
@TouchMBA4 жыл бұрын
I think most MiM grads are looking to land great jobs after graduation - that's when the market value of the degree is highest

If I take a MSc in business administration with specialization, does that mean I'll also get the base courses of the MBA too?
@TouchMBA4 жыл бұрын
Masters of Management degrees and MBAs are a similar academic core; the difference is that your MBA classmates generally have more working experience as it is an older cohort, and some MBA programs have a minimum level of work experience requirement. And if you took an MBA with a specialization, yes, your core or "base" courses would be the same. Hope this answers your question.

Okay this might be LATE reply, but looking fwd for yiur response. Business grad (June 2018), Freelance Content writing n editing specialist, four months of finance analyst and two as client relationship associate. Expecting a moderate success for my blog too. Looking for 2020 intake, meanwhile getting more experience and volunteering work. I really want to go into publishing industry with my management degree, can you suggest the appropriate qualifying degree for this?
@TouchMBA6 жыл бұрын
You'll be right on the border between programs. Unless you feel you have truly unique work experience, we'd encourage you to work 1-2 years more before applying for an MBA. If you're dead-set for a 2020 intake, perhaps you could draw up a list of MiM and MBA programs you're interested in, and reach out to them to see if their programs could accelerate your publishing post-MBA goals. Good luck!

Thank you for the very informative Q&A. I have more than 15 years of managerial experience. My interest and goal has always inclined towards senior leadership positions. Question @9:10, would MBA be a more practical path for me?
@TouchMBA7 жыл бұрын
Yes, an MBA - most likely EMBA or part-time MBA for someone with your experience - sounds best.

George, is your ultimate goal to teach and do research? Then a PhD might be suitable. Otherwise, looks like a part-time MBA or EMBA (given your 15 years of experience) might be a better option.

Start with your career goals and work backwards. Which industries / functions / geography do you want to work in? Then it's about figuring out which degree, school and network will give you the best chance of achieving those goals. Good luck!

Maybe you can start with what functions and industries excite you and then choose a specialization?

Can I know why Touch MBA services are no longer available for Indian applicants? I was excited to find the site because this was just what I needed and the moment I typed in my Nationality, I was let-down :(

Hi Diljeet, we helped hundreds of applicants from India with our service. Unfortunately we continued to get many fake, misleading and/or unqualified profiles from India so we stopped offering free profile help. However, we hope you can take advantage of our other free content, including these podcasts, our country guides and MBA events alerts in India. We also encourage you to take advantage of the numerous other MBA forums and MBA Admissions Consultants that give Indian applicants free profile feedback.

Which is the best school for mim? And what is criteria?
@TouchMBA5 жыл бұрын
Hi Neel, you can use the Financial Times' Masters in Management rankings as a starting point. What's most important is determining your criteria and "must haves" to shortlist schools

May I ask you for your guidance? Im considering a Masters in Management or a Masters in Entrepreneurship but Im an International Relations graduate from 2012. Ive been a freelancer since then with an internship assisting the accounting and then management departments of a 5 star hotel. Do you think Im a suitable candidate for either of those degrees? Im not especially fond of the MBA, Id rather be more specialized and graduate quicker hopefully..
@TouchMBA7 жыл бұрын
With 5+ years of experience, we'd recommend the MBA. There are many 1 year MBA programs (and many have strong reputations for entrepreneurship too, like Insead and IE) too. The MBA will also give you more latitude should you choose to switch career tracks and enter the corporate world.
@margaritanoir7 жыл бұрын
Touch MBA Thank you very much for your reply. However, arent these MBAs too competitive and especially difficult to get into for people of my non business/non engineering background? Ive a BA in International Relations, semestrial grade is a 2:1 (by simple equation its an 82,4%) and I had Cs and 3 Ds, final exams 100% and I work as an independent translator. I took Maths and Statistics at my country's A levels but didnt have such classes in undergrad. Ive taken Coursera courses of business subjects, I do read a lot but Im the type of student who would absolutely do great in the GRE but might struggle in the toughest GMAT Quant questions.. Being self employed and getting assignments like the ones I get (tv work, international work) is extremely rare and challenging like running a business but I dont know if thats something the MBA admissions would appreciate.. What do you think?

Thank you for this much needed informative video! I had a question though: Is it advisable to do a MIM or MSc from Canada in terms of the job prospects? Would be great if you could help. Regards! 😊
@trinity406 жыл бұрын
Celesta Mathew same question . Any response you got ?
@TouchMBA5 жыл бұрын
Hi Celesta, this would really depend on what industry, function and geography you're targeting in Canada! Start with a target list here and then check career reports of the MiM and MSc programs you are interested in to see what would be the best program! The MiM degree will probably give you more latitude as it is a generalist degree.

Hi Surya, this has less to do with your marks and more to do with your goals. We recommend MBA programs for those with at least 2-3 years of real-world work experience. If you're eager to get a graduate business degree right after graduating, MiM would be the ideal choice.

If you're looking to do post-graduation in Canada right now, we'd encourage you to look at Business Masters (i.e. Masters in Management, Masters in Finance). If you're considering MBA programs, definitely get 2-3 years of work experience first!
