Would a GRE 319 be good enough for MBA colleges ranked 7 to 20(as per FT) in USA? If not, what would be a “good enough” number. I understand a lot depends on other factors too, just looking for a ballpark number. I got a 319 and i am now wondering whether i should appear again for a 325+

Hi sir! I am on my quest to join a BBA college in India. I have considered a few good options. I wanted to know, what factors should I keep in mind while joining one, so that I can maximise my chances of getting into a top B-school abroad for my MBA? Should I be choosing a better ranked college or a college with a better foreign exchange program, a competitive place or a place where I can score well? I know it may seem too early, but I wanted to take your opinion. Thanks in Advance.

given your work experience, it's too late for 2-year Indian MBA programs. You'll be an outlier considering their average age in the class. You can consider GMAT programs. Btw, you're using the terminology incorrectly. 'Proper MBA' and 'executive MBA' are not the best ways to refer to those programs. Check out our video on Executive MBA to see what we mean.

The level of math needed to be successful in MBA programs is pretty much the same that you'd be tested on in the GMAT. Check out our video on GMAT to see what topics you'll need to brush up. They're mostly high-school level concepts, so most aspirants don't need to be too concerned.

1. By DBA, if you're referring to Doctorate in Business Administration it can't be compared to a masters degree. The two are very different. 2. A quick Google search should explain the difference. 3. If you're going for any technical masters, you'd be expected to know as much as any other student in the class who's already got a bachelor's in that field. 4. Online programs aren't yet valued as much as full-time programs.

@MBACrystalBall
@MBACrystalBall 2 жыл бұрын
We recommended doing this the other way - start off with your career goals in mind, and then figure out what you need to get there. Once you know that you won't have any confusion about the specialisation to choose. Most assume getting an MBA will get all the other pieces of the puzzle together. But it doesn't work that way.

@MBACrystalBall
@MBACrystalBall 2 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about admissions, or what a handful of adcom folks will think about your career decisions. Do what's best for you given the difficult conditions. Look at it as a chance to experiment with a new field. If nothing else, it'll still give you a better appreciation of a new domain that you knew nothing about before you started. That's one way to continue your personal growth story despite minor hiccups on the professional front. When it comes to admissions, we'll figure out a way to connect the dots - to explain what you did and why.

From our experience of helping merchant navy officers get into top MBA programs abroad, we've seen that they prefer getting their degree from the best bschool possible (even if it doesn't offer any specific electives/specialisation for ex-sailors) and then using that to manage the career change they want. I went through several of your articles, in all of them, you have portrayed GMAT as a sole protagonist to get into either target b-school or non-target b-school for an investment bank job. Which means, is it not possible to get admission in to a business school across world that helps one garner their skills to reach I-Bank WITHOUT GMAT Score(including age factors) but maybe with IELTS test score/something else. Several bschools have introduced test waiver or test optional policies. You can check those out to see if you fit their other eligibility requirements. For American schools, the age could still be a stumbling block. European schools that offer 1-year MBA programs may be a better fit.

When I applied I was swayed by the curriculum, the faculty and the university brand. I never expected to get in but now I'm in I am having second thoughts and don't want to miss out on an opportunity if there is any due to my apprehensions. What do you suggest how do I go about it? For the experience you have and considering your career goals, why aren't you considering a regular, mainstream MBA program? Niche programs such as MEM can work for freshers who're more keen on engineering management roles. So that's a bit of a disconnect too.

Hi, I need some guidance regarding whether I should take an offer from a business school in the Uk for my second MBA Introduction: I am a Chartered Accountant from India and I did an MBA from SP Jain center of management in 2009 after 2 years of experience in investment banking. Post my MBA I worked in Corporate Finance roles in tech companies. I How I got the offer: In 2020, I joined Capita, a British MNC and this resulted in me wanting to seek opportunities abroad. Late 2021, I started applying to bschools in Europe. Since I did not receive proper guidance from my consultant I received a few rejections and missed Jan deadlines of most schools. In March I applied to Cranfield and in April I received an offer from them. I also got interviews from Lancaster, Strathclyde and Edinburgh the results of which are pending My post MBA goal is to work in the finance team of a company in the UK (similar to my current role). I want to know from you whether in your opinion I should take up this offer. The main reasons I feel skeptical are 1. Cranfield's fall in FT rankings from 2020. For last 3 years Cranfield is not in FT top 100 2. I have close to 14 yrs of experience and because of that I feel I may face challenges getting a suitable role post graduation Your guidance on this will help
@MBACrystalBall
@MBACrystalBall 2 жыл бұрын
Most second MBA applicants who work with us target higher ranking programs for the prestige and global recognition that the first one didn't provide. Cranfield is typically not a hot favourite among this group, precisely for the reasons you've cited. The other universities on the list also generally don't tick the boxes. Mind sharing the reason why you applied there, since you may have been aware of the drawbacks (that you've listed), earlier as well? Did they skip the GMAT requirement? Why didn't you apply to higher ranking programs in the UK?
@neo051283
@neo051283 2 жыл бұрын
@@MBACrystalBall I applied to Cranfield for the following reasons 1. It had an experienced batch (average age 32 and experienced 10 years) 2. I had missed the deadlines in Jan because i hired a bad consultant. I could get my essays right only in Feb 3. I do not want a career change. I am in Corporate finance and want to work in corporate finance but in a different geography 4. I didnt want to work in investment banking or consulting 5. Cranfield is more of less constant in the FT European MBA rankings and almost at the level of Manchester (frankly i dont know how these rankings work) 6. Cranfield is a good brand name in the UK. I got a favourable review of Cranfield from my mentor in the UK who has worked as Finance director in many companies 7. Lastly, I am more focused on ROI and getting a suitable role rather than on global recognition and prestige
@MBACrystalBall
@MBACrystalBall 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for those inputs. Since none of those original factors has changed since you applied, there isn't much reason for you to doubt your decision now, right? Hi sir, I was planning on doing my Ms in Business Analytics/ MBA in BA from Canada in the coming year of 2023. I have a work experience of close to three years. But, recently I got a call from IIM Bodh Gaya for their MBA course. I am confused on whether to take it up or not. I had a doubt on whether taking a degree from IIM Bodh Gaya and then going abroad is a good idea, or to ignore the IIM call this year and try abroad as the plan. I also had a doubt whether the IIM tag will be of any help while I apply for studies abroad. I have written my IELTS:8.0, and am preparing for GMAT now. Can you please give me your advise on this matter if possible.

A double MBA is generally not a good option. Too expensive and time consuming. Best to get one that you'd be proud of and gets the job done. You probably know this already. But all IIMs are not the same.

All your videos are extremely informative and helpful. Thanks for providing basic knowledge about the MBA syllabus and what should I expect from the program. Sir, I am a final year B.Com (Finance and taxation ) student currently waiting for the final year result and also preparing for the CMA USA exams. Should I start to apply for MBA abroad now (after I'm an exam) or after gaining 2-3 years of work experience?

The second option (applying after getting work experience) sounds better, as all good MBA programs abroad expect several years of work experience. We've published several success stories of BCom grads with experience who've cracked into the top bschools. In fact, we have one coming up today. So keep an eye on our blog.

Unlike the other degrees, an MBA has a greater focus on the application of concepts rather than just teaching pure theory. Sure, it'll help if you're familiar with the basic subjects, since it'll allow you to speed up the learning curve for the other challenges like dissecting case studies which involve an interplay of multiple subjects.

Hello sir, I have been watching your videos from the past 2 years. I really like your content. It gives a clear idea about various topics. I am right now a working professional as a Quality Engineer in construction of Hydro project . I am doing pretty good here but I want to change my path from Engineering background to management side. So, I am planning for MIM as the cost of MBA of top b school is so high that would be way more expensive than I can afford.(Also, because I need a good profile with a lot of business rel. exp. in my resume) So as I want to make this shift can you tell me how I can make this switch or how can I make my profile better for going into a good b school¿¿¿

It may be late for an MiM degree, as you already have 2 years of experience. If you apply this season and join in 2023, you'll have over 3.5 yrs experience, right? Select the wrong degree purely for cost reasons could be a counter-productive decision. We have a video on profile building. Have you seen that?

Hi sir, im a recent computer science engineering graduate , looking to pursue an MiM degree in either sept 22(fall) or the jan 23(spring) intake. My 10th and 12th scores were pretty average(8. cgpa CBSE, and 72% in 12th), but took a massive hit in engineering in terms of backlogs which amounted to 22. is it still possible to apply to well ranked universities in the US,Canada, UK,Australia. I recently took my ielts and scored a 7.5 overall, will a good gre/gmat score and a good sop help in increasing my chances of securing an admit to a good university.

The number of backlogs seems to be quite high. This could be a huge challenge for the top programs, so make sure you spread the net wide. Here are some ways to handle low grades. We always recommend gaining some work experience before going for any masters. It helps not only in gaining the most from the academic experience, but also during job hunting. Since you'll have an edge over others who have nothing beyond the degree to show. Check out our video on MBA vs MS as well, for more perspectives.

I have one question, I've seen so many B-Schools of UK/EU ask for min 3 yrs of managerial work exp so what does it means? Like if a candidate starts working after a non tech undergrad degree in India, it would typically take him/her min 4-5 yrs of exp to take a managerial position in the org, so what about those candidates who are working and having 3-4 yrs of exp but not on a managerial level so what does it means they won't consider such candidates?
@MBACrystalBall
@MBACrystalBall 2 жыл бұрын
Managerial experience can enhance the profile. And it doesn't have to be official management experience either. You can show it in multiple ways - for instance, in your extra curriculars. But if you don't have it, focus on the other aspects of your application.

Hello Ameya here. Seeking an opinion. Since past 2 years I have been preparing for my masters degree (MBA). I also applied to couple of similar Programs as well My background is 4 years in Corporate and 2 years in social sector. I plan to continue in social sector. First through corporate and then through own enterprise. I got selected to couple of programs for MBA but didn't get the expected colleges. I am targeting top 10 schools. Yesterday I received admit from London School of Economics for Masters in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship. I would like your opinion that if I wish to pursue career in social sector domain, which path should i choose ? Does LSE masters carry good reputation if I wish to come back and work in India? Or should I try only got MBA Thank you

LSE is a good brand, for those who had it as their top priority. But seems like your primary objective was to get an MBA. In that scenario, any other degree may seem like a compromise. Make sure you don't fall in that trap after spending all the money and time. If you aren't completely convinced, take a step back to re-evaluate your roadmap. LSE is not a business school, so it doesn't come up frequently in our discussions with applicants who interact with us. It's better to rely on the research you've already done, since you've done it from a personalised perspectives compared to others who may give you generic inputs.

CAT: 85%tile.(Gave interview of IIM Lucknow , IIM Nagpur, Baby IIM) My question : What to do, I found myself in a very complex situation like Shall I do Banking examination (currently preparing) or Shall I study in IIM if get converted or Shall I Prepare for RBI Grade B in Economics section, or Shall I prepare for Indian Economics Services or Prepare for GMAT and go to HBS, Stanford or MIT only( I always think about these 3 Institute ) or If I prepare for RBI grade B then The RBI has a Policy to send student to Stanford University for Study. What to Do...a Big Question mark. Happy to see your valuable suggestion.
