Spoken with true grace in defeat. We're honored. From a Ky fan, I thank you. It was a game to be remembered. All of college basketball won. No real loser left that floor from either side. You'll grow further from it. We'll get to rejoice it. Hoping for a re-match come madness time for a round 2. Seems fitting after round 1. Killer game.

What a team what a coach. I thinks its pretty clear Pope was one of the most underrated coaches in college basketball. Cool to see all these transfer players getting their chance to shine on the biggest stage after proving themselves across the country

After the last 5 years of the Cal era at UK, this is exactly the kind of team that we, as fans, wanted. I loved having Calipari as coach, but if you go back to the loss in last years NCAA tournament game; Cal said that you cant change the way a team plays. You are who you are. I disagreed because it seems like he was saying you cant make major adjustments during a game. For a hall of fame coach with some of the best talent available, this seemed like a huge cop out to me. I can speculate on the reason he said it (but I wont). I will say that it gave me the impression that Kentucky would never ever win another tournament with that attitude. How can you play a do or die game without possibly having to make adjustments. Coach Pope is not only willing to make those adjustments, but it even seems that he could possibly be good at doing it. This is a fun team to watch.

Pope makes an interesting statement here where he says "we are okay failing OUR way." I think a broader implication of this applies to a majority of the Big Blue Nation. Yes, we are crazy. Yes we want to win every game and win the championship every year. But as a fanbase, we can be more accepting of coming up short when it is done a certain way. It is way easier to digest a loss when the other team just outplayed you. When they had more talent or the overall product they had on the floor was better than yours. When you made the effort, the adjustments, and winning plays, but it just didn't fall your way. In this last era, that was often not the case. More often than not, we had significantly more talent on the floor and yet the overall basketball product was less than stellar. Even in more successful seasons, UK let weaker teams hang around way longer than they should, games that should be sure things became stressful endeavors, and when the talent gap was smaller, wins became less and less common. It felt like a lot of those teams didn't really lose, they just failed to win, or worse, beat themselves. This years team is not going to beat themselves. You are going to have to beat them. As ugly as that Clemson game was, Clemson did what they had to do to win, but Kentucky never quit and still had chances. Now, none of this means Pope can overcome frequent early tournament exits or fall into consistent mediocrity, but he is off to a great start here at UK.
