To come back from 9 down at half-time to beat Duke in Atlanta was pretty impressive. But when you come back from being 18 down at one point, 16 down at half-time to Gonzaga in Seattle with your starting point guard out and then your back-up point guard goes down with nearly 9 minutes left in the game, forcing your 6'7" shooting guard to be pressed into running the point and you still walk out of the building with the "W", that's a statement. Kudos to Jaxson Robinson for running the point flawlessly for Kentucky for the final 8+ minutes of the game. He made intelligent decisions and if I'm not mistaken didn't commit a single turnover running the point. Great win for Coach Pope and the Cats. Well done indeed!!

Saying Kentucky ran coach Cal out of town is revisionist history. We all know that he was the one who decided to have discussions with Arkansas about their opening while he was still under contract with UK and he and Mitch Barnhart had just publicly announced he was coming back. You can't be UK's basketball coach and feel like you've got job security with the kind of results that he had produced lately, but he had at least another year left to right the ship if he wanted it. That was his decision - so, no, he did not get run out of town.
@joemother1098Ай бұрын
It was Cal’s decision, but you’re leaving out the part where he made the decision to leave BECAUSE of intense backlash from the fan base. He had the support of the AD for one more year, but NOT the fans
@dallenwadeАй бұрын
Like with Joker Phillips, when the butts aren't in the seats and the TV sets are off, it sends a BIG message to the AD who in turn puts massive pressure on the coach. KSR and every other media outlet then lead mob outrage until the "fire him" drumbeat is deafening. Who wants to work under those conditions?
@jabasabonАй бұрын
@ I’m not saying there v wasn’t pressure but he wasn’t forced out. He could’ve stayed. And if he did stay and managed to do well he would have gotten himself back in the good graces off the fanbase. @@jabasabon you’re right, he wasn’t forced to leave, but he sure was ran out of town. He wouldn’t have uprooted his life, broken a lifetime contract, and taken a $1.5 million annual salary cut if it weren’t for all the backlash from the fans. He wasn’t welcome anymore, so he left for the next best thing. Critical thinking, buddy

This post is a joke. Thought Zag fans were more intelligent, guess not.

Zag fan here. That was an absolute clinic put on by UK! They didn't even have Lamont Butler.

We did that shit!!! Go big blue!!! I'm so fukkin glad we got Pope instead of that nutjob Hurley lol it's scary to consider that we didn't even shoot a good 3 point % and STILL scored 90!!!! AND we didn't even have the defensive beast that is Lamont Butler!!
