It's high time that Cosatu and its affiliates go back to the basics of serving their members, some of whom feel neglected while the leaders focus on ANC internal politics. That's a warning from columnist and commentator and former Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa.

I agree with you on benefits. I was also once a shop steward but I know no benefits that members were entitled to except paying their own contributions and be defended their rights from the employer unfair labour practices. However with unions having changed their goal post in the passage of time, most members have lost their jobs through dismissal and retrenchments. Case in point, what happened at SAA.
