Why someone chooses to say their pronouns can be for a variety of reasons, such as them, for example, being trans/non-binary. So they would do that to not be misgendered as it can make them feel dysphoric. Some cis people might also say their pronouns just to normalize the practice and make it easier for trans/non-binary people. Those are the reasons I have understood at least. :)
