What would you estimate the power loss and mpg loss to be at? How's the spool on your turbo while driving around town and on the freeway?
@michaelr13021 күн бұрын
About 1/8th power loss, about 1-2 mpg per gallon on average, maybe not depending
@FreddyShoop24 күн бұрын
When I detail a truck I usually clean the tires also, but hey that’s just me I guess lol
@oscarposada614424 күн бұрын
It has been reported by tacomabeast that they ran 35's on a new tacoma which caused the turbo to overheat. So 35's on a stock tacoma would burn out the turbo. Maybe re gearing or just run 33's and hope that your 60K dollar truck doesn't blow a ball bearing or worse.
@MarkBrenner24 күн бұрын
What were they doing when it overheated? I’ll check it out, Is there a video?

I believe that is Jace’s Tacoma you’re referring to. (Ghosted_trd). His transmission was over heating and he said his turbo runs at max boost for extended periods of time when going up a grade. All that to say he is worried about the long term reliability of the 35s on these non hybrid models.
@kevinbradley861312 күн бұрын
Would re-gearing help? I just got a 24 taco and was thinking of doing some bigger tires, but I don’t wanna fry my motor! I have a MT too, which has a lower gear ratio I believe

The TRD OR would have motored right thru that hill climb. Whenever I see people buying Sport's to build out 4 Wheel rigs I literally roll my eyes. Yes I know Mark's truck isn't a Sport, but it shares the same handicap.
@MarkBrenner24 күн бұрын
Depends what you need. I’m not normally in need of drive modes that OR comes equipped with as I don’t do technical trails too often but when I do I always find my way out of any predicament I’m in with either technique, traction boards or in this case a friend standing on my rock slider 😂

There is also the option for 35x11.5x17 but in my opinion the wider tire looks so good and really adds an aggressive look to the truck along with better traction
@HD-on2eg22 күн бұрын
Looks good, but I think the tires are too wide, and the truck looks like it needs a bit more lift to look more proportionate.

you worried about the extra stress on the axeles and vehicle with bigger tires?
@MarkBrenner24 күн бұрын
Maybe something to consider for the long term if running a heavy load tire. Throwing a Load C on it to keep the tire weight down would be better off then something like a load E for example
@karlschauff798922 күн бұрын
The stock rear diff usually gives up pretty easily with 35's, so most guys know they're going to be replacing the ring and pinion sooner than later.

According to Icon, 33's are the best tire size for the new Tacoma. I say it's your truck do what you want. However if it's between KZbin content creators and Icon, I'm going to listen to the guys that actually design lifts and suspensions.
@MarkBrenner24 күн бұрын
I gave my input based on experience I have with my setup not rubbing in the slightest. I can’t speak for Icon but there are some factors to consider such as allignment and the fact they chose not to remove the inner fender bracket to clear the 35s Westcott Designs has their own allignment specs for their lifts which I have installed and everything clears perfect.
