I get triggered by the same thing. At the very least a lot of the comments were saying most people thought Tenpais would suck on release. But the one that just straight up hates Farfa and gives like no specifics or reasoning or a narrative, just a single sentence that basically doesn't say much getting 50+ upvotes and a slew of comments agreeing with it, that shit triggers me on Reddit every time it happens. I know people love throwing around the adage of brevity is the soul of wit. No, brevity is witty when you've delivered a good point succinctly. There is nothing thoughtful about saying "banana tastes good" but means more when you say "a breakfast is improved by a banana" because it can double with taste and nutrition. But the generalization statements of this good or bad upvote actually getting upvotes feels a bit wrong to me, and Farfa was right to get mad at it.

Farfa, MBT are not wrong about Tenpai, its just that when people saw Tenpai they only saw the one line OTK, which is counterable post-side decking. Then people found out that they can also OTK using Zealantis Raging Phoenix combo as well as decent 1st turn board like Dragon Link. And the most absurd thing is that they play 25+ non-engine, which is mind-blowing. And another thing is that people also put the Tenpai engine in their side deck for going 2nd, which I found very interesting and funny 😂

I think Tenpai is good. And more specifically, really good at what it does. But, i don't think it will be the best deck of any given format. I think it can and has the capability of topping. It may be a bit format dependent, but i think it has the workings of a good, all-in OTK with tools for going first and second. Especially with some of the more recent discoveries like the Zealantis line to OTK instead of using Synchros to counter certain cards or building a board going first.

A going 2nd otk is a little harder to anticipate. Some decks stay strong and others don't. I'll play tenpai dragon myself but no Maxx c actually hurts the deck. They can otk through it and don't care to negate it while they'll use it to hinder their opponent. So if it fails its because of the bug

I mean Ive been playing Tenpai in online tournaments where LeDe is legal, and while the deck has clear cut weaknesses, and I dont think itll be the next big tier 1 superthreat, it will definitely have to be something people prepare for and respect, especially considering you risk getting hit by Heat Wave if you force them to go first, and the deck can just play super ignorantly in general; but like you addressed, the lack of cards like Kaiser does reduce the decks power level comapred to its OCG counterpart, for sure.

Tbh the reason I think the deck is doing good in OCG is because of Maxx C, if you throw maxx c vs any deck they skip allowing you to OTK (if you draw engine), but you don't care about Maxx C that much due to you winning anyway.

That aint really the reason. It dodges most common handtraps since its a battle phase and during the damage step deck. Ash, veiler, nib, ogre, shifter and droll dont work well against them but are also well used by them, along with multiple floodgates like kaiser colloseum and everything else. No one expected to get a going 2nd deck threat that can also somewhat play 1st, hence no side decked cards to counter them outright. Now theyre in a side deck war with d barriers and red reboot put into the mix.
