Same here - 60+ years ago. We didn't have a car so we would ride the subway from Dorchester to Revere Beach.

@@Pauley_in_GP Eastie here. Mom never got her license. It was MBTA or wait for our father to take us when he didn't feel like going to Suffolk Downs or the dogs at Wonderland. Hop on the train at Maverick.. Great subway system back there. One can get anywhere in Boston Metro. in minutes

Fun fact Wood island used to be an island but was filled in with landfill, there's also Apple island and other islands that became Logan airport.

There's a window in the passenger compartment and if you're lucky it will be unobstructed so you can look out the front of the train. Examples include The red line 1500-1700 series trains The red line 1800s series trains
