People who watch just the react are more interested in the content creator than the content they are reacting to. I don't watch progression because I hate nhym, and am just okay with Cimooo. But, I watch the react from MBT because he is one of my favourite KZbinrs.

Along with that just being a very bad comparison in itself, manga is also not necessarily the start of that chain. Manga are often made as an adaptation of a Light Novel. Along with that, sometimes the manga is even worse of an adaptation than the anime adaptation (for example, "So I'm a Spider, So What?").
