Mercedes Benz has really been making a noticeable difference in their cars. You really get the feeling that every square inch of this car is engineered perfectly. The only negative things I have to say about this car is the Crown Victoria style steering wheel and the exterior body styling (although I wasn't a fan of the w221 when it came out and it really grew on me)

But due to fact of money problem and family problem its always kept as dream in heart. i wished/dreamed one day Mercedes-Benz gives a S-class give a contest i will like to play. i get what you mean...although their aim is to increase the surface area, in the video it looks like the belt itself is folding in the middle, making it more like a thin rope than a belt...it actually cancels the effect of the belt airbag. my guess is this video is from a development stage of the system and they probably solved this issue now

Beautiful engineering,as one would expect from this company, but my sister-in-law bought an S-Class and had quite a few problems.Yes these were fixed but nonetheless it was a surprise.

At the GM proving ground in Australis there was, I assume it’s still there a bit of road called the “Flinders Range Road” I have been lucky enough to drive cars accross it. It was measured from an actual piece of road in the South Australian Flinders Ranges. The car goes down & as it hits bottom the front wheel hit the other side coming up. It’s about 5 or 6 metres long about a nearly a metre deep. Believe me it’s a car breaker! It doesn’t matter what car you run accross it, it puts huge stress on the suspension, body, wheels & driver.These cars are a look into the future these days . Cheaper Mercedes are just another car but the S Class is a special car.

MB used to build amazing cars that were well-engineered, reliable and long-lasting, that ended in the mid-90s when the W124 and W126 were replaced. Then they built cars to a price, no longer a standard. Don't get me wrong, the new cars are amazing... but only while new and on a maintenance plan, one of the reasons why their secondhand value plummets quicker than a falling meteorite. These days cars in the same class from the East are better, cheaper and more reliable. When I buy a premium MB I want to drive it, not the workshop's courtesy car while my MB is in for another repair.

Service it regularly, and do required maintenance when due , and you’ll drive it forever … if you’re not ready to do that, you don’t deserve a Mercedes , go buy a Ford

The electric automatic tinting feature, "magic sky control" on the S-class is clearly the coolest technology they have. Soon I imagine it will be on the side windows and the rear glass. Simply amazing for all of us who live in warm climates; or those of us who want an unobstructed view and open air feeling in our vehicles.

This info comes from the Mercedes Benz official website, their blogs, their press releases and even their world premiere of the S-Class Coupe going on as we speak at the Geneva Auto show. Its even headlined on www.smartglass.com website, the company who licenses the glass. Obviously it works for all climates. But I will concede one thing you said...not everyone lives in a warm climate.

W221 or nothing. The 2013 W221 was at the top of the mountain in so many ways in appearance, if only they had kept that look inside and out and just added their new technologies to it the way it was. The new ones look stupid inside and simply changing the radio station can kill you due to the time you must take your eyes off the road. I can do everything I need in my 2013 and my eyes never leave the road for more than a second. I wish they would bring back the W221 interior as it was KING! I'd accept the newer seats but everything else inside W221 was awesome. I enjoy driving mine just to be inside it.

as European I owned many Mercedes cars through out the years , I just traded in my GLC300 for S550 , right now I own S550 w222 , and GLK350 , both fantastic cars … new w223 is little too futuristic for me , with its “Tesla style” tablet , I’m more of “traditionalist” when it comes to Mercedes 😊

Dear Mercedes, Thanks for giving us beautiful, amazing and perfect cars.. but what is the fun if all these marvellous cars that you produce CAN'T BE ENJOYED because of incompetent dealerships. Your motto is "The Best or nothing".. which I am willing to accept if only your cars proves it. I have a S 500 and a GL500 both 2015 model. These cars are giving technical issues and the dealer wants to rip my pocket every time since I own a "Mercedes". It has made me believe owning a luxury brand comes at a very high price... but does it make me believe in your motto "The Best or nothing" ... sorry I chose to differ with you! Unless your cars give me the peace of mind, happiness and satisfaction I will continue to reject your motto. Your motto may hold true for yourselves because you continue to make your cars the most beautiful .. the most desirable.. the most intelligent and the most technically advance but do they need to satisfy the end users at the end of the day...let the users who buy these cars decide "The Best or Nothing"!

the same thing happens to me, I personally got 2011 s550 4matic. the cost of replacing 2 front tires is more than 1.2k, which you can change 4 top brand tires and have your car balanced, the price of a remanufactured alternator is more than 1.5 k for part only, plus labor its more than 2.3k. I will start buying new Volvos now

My favorite S-classes were the W116 series (1973-80) and the W126 (1981-91) series. Of them, the 300SD (W116 1978-80 and W126 1981-85), 300SDL (W126 1986-87), 450SEL (W126 1973-80), 450SEL 6.9 (W126 1978-79), 500SEL (W126 1984-85) and 560SEL (W126 1986-91) are the ultimate in raw power.

i used to have one of the few edition one models when s class was changed from 550 to 500 let me tell u that that car had so many electronic issues with the wheels that the company ended up helping me get out of my lease early so that i could move on to the 09 model after my lease in that i got a longer 4 year lease waiting for this version of the car. Mercedes was kind of enough to lease me the 2013 s550 as a bridge lease until the 14 comes out so now im stuck waiting for this beast of a car

Actually they're not. Not until next autumn (2014). C217 (Coupe) development must end before commencement of W223 development. W222 S-Class development begun in late 2006 and the final 1:1 scale design meeting above @1:41 took place in 2009. Early testing began in February 2010 and full testing from December 2010.

no i never owned one. i mentioned rigidity because i did some search and they say that it will be a 4-door convertible. every convertible needs extra reinforcements to compensate for the loss of rigidity, and even then, the rigidity of the convertible never matches the rigidity of the "closed" version (except for very rare case like the pagani Zonda i think) that would be even harder to achieve with a 4-door convertible with such a long wheelbase and big opening over the cabin
