Today's rather proggie noodle is brought to you with the Roland MC-707 which we recently reviewed and the Dreadbox Typhon (also reviewed), played via the Arturia Keystep Pro used as a basic MIDI controller only.
Dreadbox goes into the stereo line input of the Roland MC-707 to allow easy monitoring as well as quick loop sampling too.
Not sure how it got to be so prog, its just where it ended up!

Great demo. I recommend the original « slim » key step (or 37 version I guess), for it makes a very compact setup. IMHO, this is a more convenient way of playing the zen core than the jupiter-Xm, and for a fraction of the price. I sometimes don.t even trigger the start button, and on,y use it as an 8 track multitimbral module. With a big sky reverb, it.s just heaven !

I know I'm late to the show here, but I'm wondering how well the key step pro works with the MC 707. I own the KSP, which I purchased so I can control my eurorack gear. What would be the best way to connect the two, and get the maximum control, programmability, and maximum track number?

After watching umpteen videos on this unit and talking myself out of buying it....this video finally put me over the top!! Now I have to sell something to relieve the guilt😂--which is ironically compounded by the fact that I have a Keystep Pro that's just been sitting in the box until I found a use for it. Now I have. "Keystepping" on iOS was not clicking for me. In fact, anything other than playing iOS synth apps on iOS doesn't click for me😂. But it'll be nice to free myself from the ball and chain of computer-based music making as I've done with the Maschine Mikro and my trusty ol' Arturia SparkLE. Now....if I can just find a buyer for the Roland AIRA compact trio...🤔

That would be an MC-101. It's 1/3 the size of the 707. Same 4000 presets but no deep editing. However, once paired with the upcoming Zenology Pro software, you'll have full editing of the Zen-Core engine and be able to export your new presets to the hardware.

The fact you can have 16 different synth patches on a single track is amazing. I'm sure there are hardware limitations as far as memory if you were to fill up multiple tracks with different patches lol but still a nice feature for those looking to make complex songs. I cant wait to pick up a TR-8S to pair with my 707

How to make a smooth transition between rows on the mc707?
@sailingstar8176
@sailingstar8176 5 ай бұрын
The next selected scene, clip or row will launch at the start of the next measure, so it stays in time, but it's quite tricky adding an effect or extra sound during the change. Also, you have to select the scene/clip(s) during the last measure of the current playing patterns, to avoid interrupting the musical phrasing. But it's the same with any groovebox or DAW which lets you perform by launching clips - transitions take a bit of thought and preparation.
