My own mother-in-law was forced (at gunpoint) out of her home in Palestine in 1948 with a baby and a toddler and whatever belongings they could carry. They were told they could come back to their home 'later'. Their land was occupied by settlements and she died decades later in Lebanon in a concentration camp.
