Show of hands - how many people are here because Rinnai controllers are difficult to understand or just don’t work? I have to go back to the antiquated controller that is the subject of this video because their wireless RWM module is too flaky to stay connected. It has now finally gone DOA and will not reboot.
@cpmaverick2 жыл бұрын
The wireless module is hot garbage. I spent almost 10 hours on hold or tech support with Rinnai in Jan 2022. And now here I am again, trying to learn about this because the Wifi still doesn't work right. Absolutely embarrassing and they don't seem to care either.

Wins award for most convoluted control device in human history 🤦🏻♂️. They had to have been trying to make it hard to use , it can’t be so complicated by accident.

I have not figured out why there are two timers?? Can i just shut those timers off and have it override and recirculate all the time rather than figure out when someone wants hot water. No repair person seems to know more than i do about this controller.

Tom Problem with Technicians is training. Rinnai is not doing sufficient training. Few years ago when I was still in business things started to go south. I have learned to advise guys like you to call Rinnai directly and demand assistance stating the fact that trained tech personnel in field is not trained sufficiently.By the way the second timer from what I remember is for setting it on weekend or Holidays when you would need instant delivery of the hot water during different hours than during work week . It is sad that nobody knew it did not tell you this. Sincerely Former President of Tankless Solutions Inc.

Message to Rinnai Corporate- How about making US owners an actual video on basic programming of the panel? Show US step by step how to set the basics! PLEASE! I purchased a top of the line recirculating tankless but will go back to a tank style solely out of frustration of the control panel. Life is too short for the hassle.

This is like the Grundfos system with the stand alone pump ant thermal bypass. What doesn't make sense is that the whole point of the tankless heater is to save gas by not having the heater on at all sorts of hours guessing to when I'm going to use the hot water.

Yes! so frustrating, not saving gas with a tankless heater.

Video is helpful but fails make it much easier to understand and operate. The design of the controller is confusing unless you understand all the digital moves. This temperature controller needs to be simplified without so many steps to achieve something as simple as setting the time. We misplaced our instruction manual and having a problem copying the text in the video to have a printed copy. Anyone know how to get a printed edition of operating the temperature controller MC195T US?
Way to confusing when talking about over ride times. I just want god damn hot water when I turn on my faucet or shower . Not let it run minutes. A regular water heater would be better

How do you set for higher than 120?

You can do it with the normal buttons. Just needs to not be circulating when you press them.

@@cpmaverick hi. Could you please explain how to set temperature higher then 120. If it possible step by step or video option. Thank you
@cpmaverick2 жыл бұрын
@@anjelamerabian9261 There's only two things to know. 1. Make sure it isn't circulating. Don't run hot water or recirculation. 2. Make sure the device you are using to adjust (the app, the panel, whatever) has 'priority'. If you can't do it, call Rinnai and they will walk you through it.

@@cpmaverick I have tried to call and chat with Rinnai and it is impossible. the chat "person" eventually sent me a link to a site which was not applicable to my problem. I couldn't find a phone number listed other than calling a service technician to come to my home.

Rinnai should be embarrassed by continuing to sell this controller to the unsuspecting public. *The clock has to be reset with every loss of power (No battery back up, really?!!!) * Whatever the user has programmed into the controller is lost when there is a power outage? * Programming the controller is ridiculously difficult without a video to guide every step. * The programming menu buttons are cryptic. *Many of the messages that show up require a crib sheet to decipher. Seriously, how does a “Leader in the industry” get away with selling such half baked product? At least they provide a video to follow, after skipping foreword through about six minutes of useless information. I wish I knew then what I know now….

@@cpmaverick In our new build home, the plumber straight told me that they didn’t install the Wi-Fi module because it was so bad. So, there it sits in the box below my garbage Rinnai. Plumber also said the only ready they installed the Rinnai is because that’s what the developer specified in the contract. The plumber recommended some other manufacturer, but I cannot recall who that was. I’ve concluded that Rinnai is basically the Price-Pfister of the tankless world. How they go to work each day and have any sense of pride is beyond me.

@@germanshorthairdude The Rinnai hardware is great. Before they tried to go the WiFi route they were the industry leaders. But they are failing dramatically just because they can't make it work as a 'smart device'. Crazy thing is, I don't even care about that! I just want a water heater that works. But they don't have a good alternative to their garbage Wifi control. The only one is the MC195T and it doesn't even remember the schedule when the power goes out ...

@@cpmaverick The heating unit itself may be great hardware, I’ll take your word on that. My experience with the controller and calling customer support tells me the company sucks for providing such garbage to the unsuspecting consumer. Great hardware means little to me if I can’t rely on it to provide hot water when I want it. I sincerely hope that someone in a position to make a difference at Rinnai will see the dissatisfaction with their product and light a fire to improve what they sell to their customers.
@cpmaverick2 жыл бұрын
@@germanshorthairdude It will always supply hot water, if the hardware works. The controller is just to decide when recirculation should run. If you weren't aware, recirculation can be switched on to run all the time with dip switches in the unit. So you'd always have instant hot water. But of course this uses gas. So it's nice to only run it when needed. That's where they failed.

This is the absolute WORST programming I've ever experienced. And Rinnai has made no effort to streamline the problems. Even the installer had a tough time figuring it out. Never again!

Pin this to the top to save people 14 minutes of their lives... If the power goes out and you need to reset the clock, hit power, then hit function, then set the clock with up/down, then hit function .Then power again. That's it. Now you may need to set the timer back up for recirculation. Hit timer to select the first timer. Hit function. Now use up/down to go to a desired time block. Hit override select to toggle that block on or off. Hit function when done. DONE! Cue The Rock singing 'You're Welcome!'

This is so complicated as to be depressing. Just ridiculous. Every time we have a power outage , it has to be reprogrammed. When we had it installed , we asked the installer how to operate it. He said he was busy , to read the manual and left. He also said to call him when we had a problem. Oh yeah? $100 to reset the controls.
