And both Sub-Zero and Leo's headband color is Blue. That's how Leo respect Sub-Zero. I could imagine if Raph meets Scorpion. They both had anger issues.

Probably Leonardo knows how dangerous an adversary Sub Zero is and does not dare to provoke and taunt in the presence of the grandmaster. Probably all Leonardo know respect maybe also a little bit afraid of the Lin Kuei clan and the clan warrior Sub Zero. Leonardo probably respects Sub Zero and considers him a skilled warrior respecting his fighting skills that he wants to be Sub Zero's mentor as well as student
