I did the install and polish with the mcarbo kit and it made the trigger smoother but didn’t do anything to reduce the DA pull weight. I contacted mcarbo and told them I suspect an out of spec hammer spring. They kept telling me it was the trigger return spring. So I decided to get the full CGW kit instead of fighting with mcarbo and just replaced the hammer spring before doing the full install to confirm my suspicions and it dropped the DA from 11 1/2lbs down to 7.8. Mcarbo’s install/polish video is on point though.

I asked my local gunsmith (who's installing the sights and spring kit) to also polish the internals to sooth out the machining marks. I have this pistol and it's a good shooter but the first thing I did was buy the Cajun Gun Works short reset trigger kit which was around 50 bucks if memory serves and the installation was easy, cut the reset in half and the pistol is a far better platform now. I wanted to have it cut for an optic but have found that most folks put the irons in front of the red dot, which of course doesn't help with your sight radius. If anyone has cut these for an optic in the standard format where the red dot is in front of the irons, I'd love to hear if that's worked well or if the other way is actually better for some reason. Great content as always my brother, you do a great job.

Not sure if this helps or not, but backup sights... Are backup. On a defensive pistol, for backup sights, sight radius in and of itself matters significantly less in my humble opinion. There are some variants in that argument but if you go with a quality, relatively tough optic like an RMRCC or holosun 507k, you can get away with standard height sights. Last thing I will say, is that Primary machine is where I'll be sending my second p07 to be cut. There is an option for behind or infront of the read dot for your dovetail cut.

Had the same light primer strikes (about 5) with my 509T after replacing all 3 springs with the MCARBO kits. Mostly happened with steal case ammo, in my first outing after surgery. Never had problems since though... Steel case, brass, paper...you name it. That dog hunts! Interesting. One of the reasons I started shooting a DA/SA gun is that the DA trigger pull is a tactile reminder that I'm pulling a trigger on a self-defense pistol. I am fortunate in that I have fairly strong hands, so the trigger pull of my stock P07 (and my P09 and my 75D PCR) aren't onerous, and I'm not sure I want too light a DA trigger for my intended use of the piece. That said, I can easily see how a lighter DA pull would be better for some folks.
@spookinoff Жыл бұрын
I agree with you mostly. Although it's not really an issue of a lack of hand strength for most folks who lighten their DA pull. The great thing about DA/SA is you can really tighten up your groups by lightening the DA while still retaining the added safety of the longer, heavier first trigger pull. It'll just be a little less heavy. Win win

@@cannonsmith7429 good to know! Afaik the problems come when you start going below like 13lb mainspring. I think stock spring weight is 18 lbs. might go with a 15lb as a happy compromise. This will be primarily a ccw gun so reliability is paramount. Kinda want to get a nice crisp SA pull and lighten the DA just a tiny bit while making everything smooth without compromising on reliability. Almost wondering If I can just skip the whole sear housing and decocker disassembly and just replace a few of the easier springs like FPB, firing pin, trigger return spring and hammer spring and just leave it at that. If I don’t have to do the entire kit and still get like a little bit better trigger pull maybe.

@@DIYDad1 if it's for edc then the extended firing pin isn't a bad idea, the CGW kit you mentioned would be great for reliability. to get the best SA pull you need the CGW hammer + sear spring for sure. with just springs the SA pull is great, but there's still the slightest bump/hesitation. The CGW hammer makes it like snapping a twig, more defined. nothing wrong with just going with a spring kit to start and getting familiar with the new trigger pull, you can upgrade again down the road! doing it yourself is much easier than it sounds too
@cannonsmith74292 жыл бұрын
@@DIYDad1 if it's a CCW then the extended firing pin is likely recommended by most especially if you start swapping springs. Well, sir, your right thumb appears to be normal, healthy and functional. In other words, you do not need the decocker (the most useless part of any gun anyway). Just throw it away, install the safety and decock properly, that is with your right thumb. And it even slightly improves the trigger on Omega system CZs. I did it with my P-09 and P-01 pretty much first thing after getting them and we are living happily ever after. ;-) Greetings from Prague, Czechia
