I have such great respect for you that you didn’t do as well as you hoped but you still posted this video to let others they’re not alone. The MCAT is a beast of a test so keep your motivation up and keep grinding! I’m not sure if you’re already doing these things but some tools that have helped me drastically improve my scores have been UWorld, Anki (x1000), KZbin (science simplified makes good videos as well as Khan academy), and if you want more practice exams Blueprint is a good source but the questions are definitely harder than the AAMC ones. I’ll keep you in my prayers brother, just from watching this video I can tell you’re going to be a great doctor in the future💪🏼

Hey Nathan!! Thank you for the tips. I did all of those already except for watching videos, so I will do that more. So far from analyzing my performance, I think I will go for a more comprehensive pre-made deck, do Altius exams since I done some Blueprint already, and then do practice problems like UWorld.

Anything above a 495 is Medical school worthy. Especially as a minority! Don’t sell your self short. There are people with 487 getting into USA medical schools. If you have a 3.4 gpa and above and you have research or shadowing or health related experience you are almost a sure fit.

hey man for most people, you need to be in the 75th percentile to do “good” on the mcat. That means out of a 100 people, around 25-26 will do well and the other 75 people will fail. Failure is not uncommon, rather it is the majority feeling most people will feel when they take the mcat. However, it takes a lot of character to post a negative reaction to the mcat on youtube especially when most people would only post their success. You may not have the mcat score you want, but at least you have strong character and resilience in a really shitty time - no amount of studying will give you that. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the encouragement and words. It's much appreciated. I agree with a strong character and resilience, I will do well on my next attempt with the right strategies and resources.

You can always submit your application to one school so your application gets reviewed and processed. Take the MCAT in June or July then apply to all the other schools that you want.
@SeanOchiagha2 жыл бұрын
Yea, that's true! But, I started studying in May 2021 and initially wanted to take it in August. As mentioned in the video, I wasn't ready twice and took it in April as my practice scores looked great. During the time of waiting for the score, I was accepted to work full-time as a medical assistant starting post-graduation, so it's going to be pretty difficult to be ready for July, let alone June. Also, I’m not sure if I will be competitive for MD schools if I take it in July. Definitely thinking about my options, so thanks for the advice.
@jamesburmeister16082 жыл бұрын
@@SeanOchiagha who cares about being competitive for MD. Listen man do you want to start med school next year, or do you want to take another gap year to POTENTIALLY have a chance of increasing your mcat score to POTENTIALLY be competitive for MD? I wouldn’t and that’s just my opinion. Especially with how identical the degrees are these days. Just my two cents
@SeanOchiagha2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesburmeister1608 I agree with you on some points. But with my score, I wouldn't even be competitive for DO, let alone MD. And I haven't even started studying for the retake yet to take in July, so I think it's a bit late to apply this cycle. After a lot of reflecting, I think I need more of an understanding of concepts as I rely too much on memorization in B/B and P/S. Also, I am interested in specialties that are increased through going to an MD school. As mentioned in the video, I studied for almost a year, so having a 2-3 month break to relax is essential for me to be in the right mind state to perform well. Can I still apply on time to DO? Yes, of course! But I think that will only leave me time to practice a lot which is what I did from January to April on my third attempt at studying for my 1st attempt. And it only took me so far. Honestly, I don't mind the extra year as I will get work clinical experience that I did not get to do in undergrad, and being only 24 by the time of enrollment is the average age. But thank you for the input.

What was your score???

Hey James! I kind of doesn't want to reveal my score for personal reasons. Plus, I don't think it wouldn't provide a benefit to compare with other people. I hope you understand.
