My Filipino buddy in hair school hammered it in to my head that you don’t treat thick, straight East Asian hair the way you do other hair!!! He said that barbers who didn’t know how to do it would always end up giving the client the “Mao” or the “Kim Jong”

We latino man have strong native ancestry so we also have porcupine hair. I made the mistake to go to a black barbershop in Columbia, South Carolina and to my demise, the barber (l don't blame him) messed up with head. I was in the verge of tears as l was paying. By the end of the haircut, the barber was pretty much laughing his ass off at me as l was looking at the pots, wholes and trails he made on my hair in the mirror.

Same here man most barbers cannot get that almost perfect square shape all around the head. Back home I went to the same guy ever since I was a little kid so I guess that helped him master how to shape my very thick straight hair. I also have an egg head lol so that makes it even harder.

Dear MC, I have a question: have you ever tried cutting hair with an open blade? not the replaceable ones you’re ( and everybody else) is using but the actual straight razor ( for shaving).. I am thinking about trying one, because it’s is basically half a scissor.
