I was born in 1954, so i was to young to remember my dad buying the model 76 mcCormick harvestor/thresher pull behind combine. His was the one with the I>H. 4 cyl engine on it. think only 750 were built and only made 1 year in 1956-57 not sure if it was a farmall A engine can't quite picture it, but I would know the straight pipe sound when it was cranked up to working rpm, can't forget that sound. It was crank start I remember the built in crank holder. It was a cool combine, He kept the rpm set to oats and never combined anything any different. in southern wisconsin.

or is it the other way around, the pto model 76 is the 1 year only combine and 19,860 built were with the motor I don't really know. was it more common to have a engine built on the combine or pto in 1956 ?

Great video Being a teenager back in the 60s that is the first combine i ran A 76 IH pulled by a Super M . It was so muddy that year we had to hook an M Farmall on the front of the Super M to get through the field . Used that combine till we bought a 615 selfpropelled. Brings back a lot of memories

Great video except for the music. We can’t hear the tractor or the combine! Pro tip: Dump the music .

I remember my Dad using one of those in the late 60s. Great video.

The question about Darius is in reference to the late Darius Harms. He was one of the original members of the group that started the shows at Pennfield ILL. Also very active in the IHC collector group in that area, a very talented farmer and collector.

Would you be able to provide any insight as to how the dual wheels attach to that combine? Thanks.
@ikonseesmrno73004 жыл бұрын
The duals on a 76 are done with extension hubs. I can email you a picture from the parts catalog or post a quick video clip of the page on my channel if you would like.

@@ikonseesmrno7300 thanks for the offer, but I ended up fabing a set already.

They just use a longer axle shaft, the two rims bolted together and the outside cap with the pin held it just like a single. We probably had a half a dozen of these things on our farm, one with duals one with the motor. I hated that tarp to pull the grain to the cylinder
@DavidJones-me7yr2 жыл бұрын
Ours has the Hume reel and scourclean, but no duals.

Nice machine! It's a wonder that the junkyard mice didn't invade the canvas and eat holes in it.

So, how much did the scrapyard charge you. Because im curious if its the same amount they paid for it or if they sold it for more .
@plowedunderproductions4301 Жыл бұрын
I bought it from an individual who sold his property. He was going to have to scrap it unless someone bought it. So I waited till the last weekend before it needed to go and no one else took it so I took it home with me. About a four hour trip.

Can you help me find a replacement canvas elevator for my newly acquired McCormick #76 harvester?

A canvas shop can make one I checked into it but found it was expensive
