McCulloch HT5622 Hedge Trimmer Repair, No Start, Carburettor Rebuild

Welcome back to another, very long overdue video! This time we get a McCulloch HT5622 Hedge Trimmer back up and running! I'm pretty thorough when it comes to storing my two stroke stuff over Winter but it looks like there was still some fuel in the carb when I left this one, even though the tank was dry. No fuel was pulling through. Links to parts and specialist tools below. 6:42 This is where the cat jumps up on the bench to 'help'. Cool, you got it running again, but I still did not see anything wrong with the whole disassembly that cleaning would not fix. Carb kit is a good Idea, but what was wrong? Some passage plugged?

It’s hard to see in the video but there was a lot of white residue in there clogging everything up. It would probably have been fine just rebuilt without replacing the internals but a rebuild kit is only £4 and thought it may help others who watch the video as there isn’t much info out there on these trimmers! Great work 👍. But if i had such Screws like 5:23 i only loose them with a special screwdriver and give them a cut with a little saw. Then i can use a normal slotted screwdriver.

Cheers! Most of the newer 2 stroke carbs have got special screws for the adjusters nowadays, I’ve got 4 different types on the stuff I own alone! They work quite well because the screwdriver goes all the way over the screw and is a really snug fit, they stay in place when you let go of the driver making fine adjustment really simple. It is annoying that you need a screwdriver kit to do it though!
