I'm going to have to say Crosby. McDavid is unreal himself, but I think Sidney is more of a total package leader. When I watch clips of his playmaking, awareness, passing, skating, puck defense, etc it's staggering how good he is in all of those disciplines. He seems like he's getting better and better with age. Really has matured into an incredible leader. Its inspiring to see. I think McDavid will do the same with time.

McDavid definitely brings the speed and slick wristies, but his style is still not as good as Crosby’s in that Crosby can play around players. McDavid usually just blasts from center which is still impressive, but Crosby grinds. The fact that Crosby is 32 and still playing great. Scoring some of the best goals of his career in that few years, 100 pt season last season and 2 Stanley Cups the past 4, Crosby has proved a lot. McDavid needs to prove over time he’s better than Crosby. Most players after they hit 30 slow down. Crosby is still top 5 each year. McDavid May be better now given his young age and shit, but Crosby overall for how he continues to be successful year and year is beyond impressive.

It is rather easy to see that McDavid is now a better offensive player in the regular season. Better then Crosby in his prime..No probably not. 50pts in 25 games including 25 goals is not a bad benchmark... Crosby is a better 200ft player, has better hockey sense, and is able to elevate his game when it is played at it's highest level, where no one is sure if McDavid can or not. McDavid creates space where as Crosby does things with zero space. When the game is at its highest level, international tournaments, playoffs, Crosby is able to dominate and be head and shoulders above everyone...McDavid limited time at this level has looked good not great. Love McDavid, but he doesn't dominate when the game is played at its highest level and most intensity. Crosby does. Until then Crosby. We are lucky to be able to watch them both, and I hope that McDavid gets the chance to prove himself in the playoffs.

At the Moment in the NHL I would say MacDavid is the better player though. But he is not quite yet in his prime while Crosby is out of his prime. Crosby was at that time of his career better, but I think looking at current numbers it’s MacDavid

He was on pace for way more in 2011. The real question is this, I think. How would #97s point totals look if he had to dedicate his energy to the 200ft game to the degree that Crosby does. I think McDavid is smart enough to want to develop his game like that if it means getting a CUP. When he does I hope that people don't attack him for putting up say 90pts and having a winning team.

Crosby definitely earned his place. It's a team spot, i.e., putting too much weigh on how many cups won is not necessarily a fair or meaningful comparison for 2 individuals with different years of experience and more importantly different teammates and organizations. Though I have to say one reason I enjoy watching hockey is the skating (I regret I cannot find more Paul Coffey footage) and speed, also I respect Connor McDavid's demeanor on and off the ice, especially at this young age.

Crosby is the goat at handling the puck, an elite playmaker, an elite two way forward, and a great leader. His goals and assists are sick and he's consistent with them. McDavid is speedy and flashy with his goals. At a younger age than Crosby, he might be more valuable. It's as close as Lemieux vs Gretzky, which is closer than you think considering Mario had to fight injuries and cancer and missed alot of games. There are all these what ifs and Wayne had more superstar teammates. I was recently convinced that both Sidney and Mario are better and I'm a Pens fan

The difference is speed. I've had the pleasure of growing up watching Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Yzerman, Selanne, Datsyk, Crosby, Ovechkin, Jagr, and now McDavid. And Connor is the ONLY player in history who can do what all the previous names mentioned can, but do it at a speed that none of those others could ever match. He may be the best ever, time will tell. But his ability to make the crucial play at speed is truly unrivaled.

2 different generations of hockey play. Both are amazing hockey players without a doubt. Crosby had his ups and downs in pitsburgh of a bit but he gained respect, not from his team and coaching staff but from the whole NHL. he's a great leader and the team listens to him, and so does the coach. McDavid still has room to grow. He does have the ability to cover both ends of the ice, but with how fast he is, him and his teammates have a different style of play. And one more thing that Crosby has that McDavid doesn't, is a whole team and a great goalie. McDavid should have had a stanley cup by now but oilers owners are turning into the maple leafs of old when Ballard was around. They just want money. Who needs a stanley cup when they can have a show whenever McDavid steps on the ice. I think he should be traded along side Draisaitl, to a team that will use them to their full potential. With that being said, McDavid could easily surpass the so called great one in points in doing so. And Gretzky could have lost that scoring title to Mario because Mario played 572 less games than #99. Mario: 1723 points. Gretzky: 2857 points. Mario with 690 goals and #99 with 894. Mario 915 assists and #99 with 1487. With that gap in games who knows. and also with that being said... y'all need to stop comparing different generations with each other because it doesn't make sense due to the fact in how the game evolves. Sure compare the likes of mario and gretzky , theyre 4 years apart. but crosby and Mac are 10 years apart. Big difference in hockey.... but that's only my opinion. They are very different players, what McDavid does on offense is incredible but anything hockey related Crosby is really good at he is just an all around good player, but mcdavid’s talent on the offensive end or on the rush is amazing, Crosby is a unique player definitely top 5 of all time maybe even top 3, when I watch Crosby clips I notice how they are all different and EXTREMELY hard but mcdavid’s clips are just 99% breakaways and going on the rush they all look so similar so Crosby has got to be the best player in the league right now but being the best of all time probably isn’t pushing it that much for Crosby’s skills and all around hockey knowledge

Crosby is more skilled at: - leadership - defensive play (most if not all aspects) - hand-eye coordination (the man literally juggles the puck in front of the goalie) - puck control - aggressiveness McDavid is more skilled at: - stickhandling (slight edge to him) - offensive decision making - speed (this guy is a rocket) Tough call but I'd draft today's Crosby over today's McDavid... in 5-10 years, McDavid might surpass Crosby's skill, however.

Crosby - Drafted in 2005 Won first cup in 2009 McDavid - Drafted in 2015 No cups and it’s 2019. Crosby carried the pens to a cup and to a cup final (2008) in only 4 years. McDavid has not done that. That fact alone... Crosby is better

crosby is a just a way better complete player, he can forecheck, backcheck, play the corners brutally, he has hands, hand eye cordination, crosby defensive ability is way better than mcdavids. his puck protection is crazy as well, his hockey iq is insane as well theres a reason hes won almost every trophy. but mcdavid is an amazing offensive player probably the best offensive player rn and paired with a guy who can shoot, leon. thats a scary combo. the speed, and the hands. other than that, thats all what mcdavid has. you take the speed away from mcdavid?? hes a above average player. also to put this into perspective if you look at crosby first 5 and mcdavid first 5 years its nearly identical unitl crosby had bad years of being hurt. we have seen this points before idk why people think mcdavid transcended the game when all he is is speed and hands.

I've seen Crosby under intense pressure. Team needed a win and although he didn't score, he led by example and inspired the team. Every shift that game he was generating time in the zone and never made a bad play with the puck. He must've had 8 shots on goal, Hank was insane that night. It was something I've never seen before and that's when I knew he was the best. That was before McDavid was in the league. Once McDavid loses his speed I think he can become a better all around player because other facets of his game will have to improve to make up for the drop in speed. The better player rn is McDavid too, but Crosby can lift his team simply by them seeing how much effort he's putting in. Crosby is gonna leave it all out on the ice, everything he has.

Crosby rn is the better of two. Although mcdavid is putting up more pts. Crosby has the small details mastered that’s why Connor isn’t winning rn. Even the small things like the constant shoulder checks,awareness willingness to never give up on a play. Crosby is by far the best puck protector in the league. Not taking anything away from Connor(cause I’m nowhere near as good as him) but Crosby in my opinion is the best in the league rn.
