Yes and no...if there is ANY sort of psudeo governing body of a dsicipline/field/etc, they just take the word of the organization that a record has been set. Otherwise, you pay Guinness to send a "judge", whom you pay for thier time, room and board, and travel expenses. Now India happens to have a national version of Guinness, so anything they say is a record is just copy/pasted into Guinnesss.

Rob, IF you ever take a road trip to visit Chicago, I'll take you to see the Carlson Gracie BJJ HQ in Logan Square, some great local restaurants, and even some of the unique independent MMA gyms in and around (meaning the suburbs) the city itself. Chicago is NOT the violent war zone that the media portrays it as IF you live (stay) on the NW side and ARE CAREFUL of which neighborhoods (we got 77 diverse and unique neighborhoods) you visit and how you travel (public transit or car) through them. It's also NOT a bad place to live if you ever get tired of the tropical heat and humidity in Florida. 🙂

Reminded me of the time I was made to attend some 'Positive Behaviour Support,' physical intervention "training"; the issue was when I returned from a comfort break, one of the trainers asked me to grab his shirt!! I did so and was then asked to regrab, but less hard!! (Years of Judo meant my grip was pretty decent!) He then proceeded to demonstrate the 'best' way to release the grip, by grabbing his shirt and pulling it away from my grip!! Cognitive dissonance was the result-yes it got the shirt out of my grip, but only because I allowed it. After completing the course one of my people grabbed me as I took their temperature upon arrival. I used the exact method I'd recently qualified in, resulting in lacerations to mu forearm. Not doing the post a KZbin clip, as I'm too lazy!! ❤😅❤

Channels like yours have really inspired me to get back into martial arts! I trained at a school run by some students of Stephen K. Hayes for some time in my teens, realized it was BS and went through some nasty depression for a good while (that wasn't the only factor, obviously, but it certainly didn't help things.) Got some therapy, worked a couple odd jobs to help get me back on my feet and now I want to get back on the horse! I'm thinking I'll start with a couple years of BJJ, then a couple years of boxing and see where things go from there! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHKxoJypaNNgedU

kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3a2dKRtfL-Ja6c Long time listener, first time caller. It's pretty funny how many times a Mcdojo decides on teaching their student techniques based on "if this guy does x, you gotta do y" and "x" is never something common like a stiff jab or a clinch. It's pulling out two knives/pointing a gun at your chest point blank/Three armed guys all deciding to attack you one at a time. Added to that, the advice isn't "Guard up" or "Use your words first" or maybe even "Disengage/create distance." Nah bro spark up a cigarette, pop a one liner and whip out your chi KO attacks ... Also, homie managed to not only endanger his students twice over. first with the pineapple massacre and brain conditioning but also by teaching techniques against completely non resistant people. I'm willing to bet students in this particular "academy" do not pressure test their stuff. Anyway, thanks Rob for checking these schools and putting eyes on them!
