To be honest, I don't think it's AI doing the ordering. That just sounds like a corporate "customer service voice" (that overfriendly voice workers tend to use) paired with either being told to use certain language ("Sure!") or the worker just repeating the same word. When working in customer service positions, people tend to pick up phrases that they just say whenever a common thing is said to them. Edit: Listening to more, I think the reason it sounds scripted and unnatural is because it is. The workers are probably being told to use certain language, as I mentioned above.

6:14 I used to work at McDonald's and yes I needed to follow a script to say things. It wouldn't surprise me if the CosMcs script would include "always say sure because that sounds grounded and hipp and apologize to every car". At one point you do sound like a robot because you are forced to say the same thing over and over and over again and loose your humanity with the constant repetition of the same phrases.

Cosmc's being drive-through only adds to the whole elimination of third spaces :[
@buttercuup029 ай бұрын
Exactly!! I really hope this is just for their first location, and that future ones will have a lobby :/ It would also help them compete more directly with Starbucks considering how popular the latter is with ppl sitting in with their laptops every day

I have been a barista and worked for McDonald's I know they are managing it like a McDonald's but McDonald's pre makes 90% of the buger before you pull up but drinks are mostly made in real time Especially blended drinks it takes more time and McDonald's loves to under staff and underestimated the volume 😕

Actually every fast food employee has a filler word as we type stuff in and it can be very robotic. 😂 mine is “allll-righty” in that sick sweet customer service voice and some of coworkers say “you betcha, okay, mhm, great!, sure, anything else for you today? What else can we make fresh for ya?” And I’m gonna guess they have to keep strict composure cause I’m very sure they got screamed at and McDonald’s doesn’t need “bad” workers when the PR is in the trash.

The "sure" thing could also just be one of those default things people in customer service fall on. When I worked in food/retail, I had key phrases I used constantly - so much so that they bled into my personal interactions. Things like "sure no problem" "yes of course" "did you need anything else?" "my pleasure!" "awesome" "perfect" etc. At one place my friend worked at she wasn't allowed to say "problem" even if it was in the context of "no problem" because I guess upper management thought eliminating the word problem would cause less customer complaints? Anyways, "no worries" became her default and she started saying it after any interaction, even to me. Scripts in any business isn't unheard of, but it's sort of a big leap to assume "sure" is her being like programmed to interact a certain way.

My gym was right across the Cosmc's and I had to wait 20 minutes just to get out because of that ridiculous line. Most of us hated it and still do. Those that didn't were more confused by it.
