You, sir, are creating the rarest thing: a healthy, productive work environment. You set high standards, but pair it with abundant humanity and professionalism. I admit, I've used "flipping burgers" as a pejorative in the past. But from watching so many of your (admittedly addicting) vids, I recognize this is good, honest work helmed by a leader who genuinely cares about both the product and the people he oversees. It’s wild to me that folks in the comments are saying things like “wow you’re so kind while you’re coaching!” or “you’re a good instructor!” And I’m here watching this guy do some very basic and standard coaching. Its a reminder how there are that many bad managers out in the world, it’s so bad that this guy simply talking normally while coaching, and patiently explaining things to a new hire (what you’re supposed to do) has become an exceptional standard.

Amazing how the layout of every kitchen around the world is the same too. I live in Japan now, and the layout of the McDonald's here looks much the same from what I can see. I suppose it's that consistency in the franchising model that's made it a global brand. I've had McDonald's in Canada, Australia, Italy, France, Ireland, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam. A double cheeseburger or Big Mac is the same no matter where you go

You can’t help but be amazed at how much infrastructure goes on behind the scenes to make something so simple as a burger! Personally, have never been a fan of MD myself, in the 80s I’d always opt for a wimpy (remember them?) and today, I prefer Burger King! I am in the UK so can’t base my experience of MD to you, however I can’t relate to the lack of pickle and onion, two of which I get in abundance with Burger King! The last bite should always taste as good, if not better than the first, something I never get if I have a MD!

I don’t know about how Mcdonald’s work at Stephen’s but for us, the kitchen line is divided into two or three roles depends when we get enough staff. The roles are initiator, chaser, and assembler. The initiator is the one who puts the buns in, he/she is vital for how fast the burgers can get out. In our store we have this 5 second rule that we need to react within 5 seconds of getting an order. The chaser is the one who does the sauces, the salads and stuff to be put on the burger, it helps the kitchen line to speed up, but we normally assign a chaser during rushes, in that way the initiator can only focus on getting the burger buns in and won’t have to worry about dressing the burgers. The assembler on the other hand is the one who puts the meat on the burger and wraps it. I’m not trying to judge Stephen here but he could’ve let his assembler or his trainee to dress the burgers or pack the burgers himself. If he let his assembler do that, he can definitely focus on the other burgers in line and by the time his assembler finishes wrapping the burgers, the next one is ready for him to wrap. Mcdonald’s is very famous for its training and some days we sacrifice good results just to get the training done.

I have huge respect to anyone working fast food. McDonald’s was my first job and only stayed for like 2 weeks due to finding another job. I couldn’t sleep at night my dreams were of me working and when I woke up I felt tired mentally. I got traumatized by the beeps and by the stress of beginning a job I didn’t know how to do like the others working. To make matters worse I got no training and the teenagers who I worked with only slacked off and wouldn’t teach me rather would laugh at my mistakes
