That is not entirely true. Noone says that fast food work is not hard. It is extremely tiring, you have to keep going all day with minimal breaks. The reason I personally look down on those people who are not studying anymore but working there full time, is because they are not even trying to do anything better with their life. They just accepted "hmm, this is the best i can do, whatever".

When I was 16 I spent most of my summer working at the local McDonalds. Being on Fry duty was probably my favorite thing, didn't have to deal with customers, take orders or deal with mess ups. Your only duty during lunch and dinner rush was stand there and make fries. And every once in awhile step back look at the drive thru screen and the lobby to see if you are still in the thick of it or if it was time to slow down. During lunch or dinner rushes it made my shift go by so fast having to work quickly and efficiently at the fry station. Granted I wouldn't want to do that as an old man but as a young 16 year old I actually liked how fast paced the fry station was. Not to mention you kinda felt important because pretty much every order would have fries so people where depending on you in that sense. If you messed up and made too much and cold fries got put into orders it was on you. Kinda felt like an IRL Papa's pizzeria game lol.

I remember sitting in the front of Mcdonald's waiting for my brothers shift to end so we could hang out, and his boss let me just chill in the back and watch him. This was a small town McDonald's, and they were wrapping up for the night, got a free 20 piece, and got to scoop my own fries. It was very mesmerizing, watching everyone and how you could follow one person and after a couple "passes" you understand EXACTLY what their job is.

@bvsora
@bvsora 11 ай бұрын
@@Trenz0 there is no way you think office jobs are less taxing on the mind than repeating the same task over and over, requires little to no thought. That's why these jobs are easy and don't need to pay that much. Anyone can learn them to a proficient level in 5-10 minutes. Anyone watching this video could probably complete the same job just because they've seen it done for 15 minutes. Try that with an "office job" no one is learning to code or how to be a good mechanical engineer in 15 minutes.

@@bvsora you're right, it'd be ridiculous if the company that rakes in 14 billion gross a year bothered to pay better than minimum wage, I mean, the CEO needs a third mega-yacht and is busy hard at work . . . telling parents about how it's their fault their children were shot to death (yikes) it's only natural to demean a low-skill job without pausing to think regardless of the qualifications that both the company and consumer still relies on that labour and that /someone/ has to do the job, else there'd be no product. I always look at the kitchen in horror when going to mcdonalds. This video made me realize working at mcdonalds might not be as chaotic as I assumed (still pretty chaotic imo). But once you understand what the different chimes and alarm sounds are from, it clears a lot of "distractions" and "feel of being overwelmed". It becomes convenient for the worker even, having a timer and all. (I did not know this, thank you)

i have visited mcdonalds resturants many places around the world, there is a HUGE difference from country to country how they run. UK is chaos, and food gets cold and staff is just walking around randomly. Meanwhile in Denmark the food is warm, and staff knows what to do, and they help eachother. Like a whole new level. Germany is a mix between UK and Denmark. So i really depends on where you go.

Through high school, I did this part of the Back-of-house a lot (like 7/10 shifts) and the realization that this position never really talks just hit me. No conversation, often deep in thought, no words other than when they need a restock or to make a reply, even then it's like maybe two or three words. Now in College, I only come back to work over the summer and winter holidays in catering. I've never felt more unprepared to socialize and talk with clients because of this position. @@leeroymlg4692 No i'm not ! don't get me wrong. When i say, leave this shit, it's only because it's a very stressful job, with garbage working hours and it's paid like shit, unless you can be a director, but even with that statut, in plenty of them, you still work "on the field" sometimes. And the last thing, which is for me a big thing, is that you smell like french fries and fried chicken, EVERYDAY ! and you come home with it, your home smell a bit like it and even with 4 shower a day, like i used to do, your hair still smell like it. So, in conclusion, it's a very good school for learning how to work, especially for young people that want a simple job to begin with, cool working hours, because they don't care to work late and and to have 2 shifts in a day, and they're physically strong for handling it. But, within a year, it become really frustrating, tiring, stressful, and you feel it in your legs. I know that there is a need for workers like that, every job is a real job and should be taken serious. We have a lot of people working jobs that are very difficult but if they don't do it, we can't litteraly live for a week, maybe less. And in the same time, i think we have an obligation to make their life easier, but the people running the business want profit most of the time and don't think about that at all, that's the principal problem. So, yeah that's all i was saying sorry for the book i just wrote, but i wanted to make clear my intentions ! :)

If you watch other McDonalds workers videos, you'll get that sense - efficiency. McD's is the king of Fast Food, and they are fast. Burger presses to cook both sides of the burgers at the same time, constant cleaning, constant resupplies, cooking and placing in their heat bins. I respect that about them, how efficient they are.

I used to work at McDonald's here in the Philippines and I miss being stationed at the fries station. Especially at peak hours(11am-1pm). I had to move fast otherwise the fries will be sevred later. I had to learn how to juggle 8 fry baskets just to catch up to demands. My foot are both left that's why I don't dance. But when you're stationed at the fries. Man your two foot will be 8 by the end of every shift.

This is heaven. I used to work at a McDonalds that covered a very wide area and it was hell. 3 times as much as this. We used to fill two frying baskets, each with one large AND one medium serving so every time the fries were done we had one very big pile of them which lasted about 3-4 minutes. It violated the rules but if we'd make less it would have held up all the restaurant so we didn't have a choice. The fries came out well fried though so at least we didn't serve poor food. Filtering the oil tho... now that was tricky....

I worked at wendy's and the fry dispenser system in this video is so awesome. We had to get bags of fries from the freezer and just dump them in the baskets. At least in my store, idk if they're all like that, we were in desperate need of a renovation. Also fries and nuggets were the same station. (regular and spicy nugs) and the chicken for the sandwiches was also cooked in the same oil things so if we're super busy you might have to wait for an open fryer lol. But anyway this video really makes me wish I had a gopro one of those days. I think it would be a cool thing to watch after the fact. It's actually pretty relaxing when you aren't the one worrying about keeping track of a bunch of orders. I guess it might just be the satisfaction of watching them all get fulflilled without the stress of seeing the ones yet to be. Though any pov I would make would probably include a lot more looking up at the order screen haha

To each their own. I take more pride in my work when it is more valuable. If it's not valued, it's not pride I feel. It's accomplishment. I accomplished my end of the bargain to receive the money I need to live and buy things. My pride in work comes from value I provide that I also hold value in. I hold value in it if the company recognizes my value. If they don't, then that's the relationship they've established.

@Axxidous
@Axxidous Жыл бұрын
@@nateblanche2551 Yeah I started with that because I wanted to make it clear that I wasn’t stating my perspective was one I felt everyone had to share. And to an extent, I agree with your ideals as well. But that’s only the case when I have the motivation to feel that way, which I, personally, don’t when others don’t value the work I’m doing. It’s not that I feel the work is beneath me. It’s just that I will only go above and beyond when I feel like it out of my own sensation of accomplishment, but will also just do what I’m supposed to do and no extra when I don’t feel like it because if the work isn’t valued then it isn’t missed either. Unless it is, in which case they may start to show the work is valued. And because of that, I try to express the value in the work others do for me as well to help them recognize what they have to be proud of.
