My father spent the last 6 weeks of his life in a nursing home alone. His memory was so bad and his cognitive level wouldn't allow him to understand why we couldn't visit him. He died brokenhearted thinking his children abandoned him. He was so malnourished by the time he was released he died within 6 hours. It was pitiful. My dear MIL died in the hospital during Covid. She went in for a bladder infection, never came out. And we weren’t allowed to visit her. I was inpatient in 2020, and then in nursing rehab for 3 weeks, at the height of Covid. I wasn’t allowed to have any visitors. I felt like a prisoner.
